Position Overview:

The Aviation Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe management of the company's corporate flight department, adhering to all applicable aviation regulations. This role requires a seasoned aviation professional with a strong understanding of Canadian Air Regulations (CAR 604) and the ability to manage flight operations effectively. The incumbent will also participate as a pilot in the company's corporate flight operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring strict compliance with flight procedures and safe training practices.
  • Conducting or assigning pilots for line indoctrination and flight checks to assess pilot proficiency.
  • Ensuring all flight crew members perform their duties professionally and with adherence to the highest standards.
  • Developing and managing the scheduling of all pilot training events.
  • Regularly reviewing, maintaining, and amending Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and aircraft publications.
  • Serving as a member of the flight crew in the company's corporate aircraft.

Qualifications:

  • A College degree in Aircraft Piloting or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of Transport Canada's Civil Aviation Regulation CAR 604 related to flight operations.
  • Demonstrated management experience within a CAR 604 or 700 organization is mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) with a minimum of 8,000 hours of total flying time.
  • A valid Transport Canada Category 1 medical certificate.
  • Ability to obtain a Transport Canada security clearance and CANPASS.
  • Must be capable of fulfilling TSA requirements for training in the United States.
  • Excellent command of English is essential for daily reading and understanding of technical documentation from international organizations, as well as for written and verbal communication with global customers, suppliers, and colleagues. Although the work environment is primarily Francophone.
