Ponderosa Aviation is actively seeking highly skilled and dedicated pilots to join our esteemed team. We are currently recruiting for two critical roles: Air Attack Pilots specializing in wildfire suppression and Air Ambulance Pilots providing vital medical transport services. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to essential operations within the aviation sector.

Air Attack Pilot Position

Aspiring candidates for the Air Attack Pilot role must meet stringent experience requirements established by the US Forest Service. These qualifications are non-negotiable and ensure the highest standards of safety and operational effectiveness during critical wildfire suppression missions.

Required Experience for Air Attack Pilots:

  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with Multi-Engine Class Rating
  • Instrument Rating
  • Total Flight Time: 1,500 hours
  • Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Total Time: 1,200 hours
  • PIC Time Breakdown:
    • Multi-Engine Airplane: 200 hours
    • Fixed-Wing Aircraft (past 12 months): 100 hours
    • Cross Country: 500 hours
    • Mountainous Terrain: 200 hours (as defined by the Aeronautical Information Manual, Figure 5-6-2)
    • Night Flight: 100 hours
    • Instrument Flight Time: 50 hours
    • Instrument Time (Actual/Simulated): 75 hours
    • Specific Make and Model (AC-690): 25 hours (training provided by Ponderosa during the onboarding process)

Air Ambulance Pilot Position

Ponderosa Aviation is also seeking qualified Air Ambulance Pilots to deliver critical patient care and transport. Candidates for this role must possess a robust flight background demonstrating proficiency in multi-engine operations and instrument flying.

Required Experience for Air Ambulance Pilots:

  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with Multi-Engine Class Rating
  • Instrument Rating
  • Total Flight Time: 2,000 hours
  • Multi-Engine Flight Time: 200 hours
  • Cross Country Flight Time: 500 hours
  • Night Flight Time: 100 hours
  • Instrument Time (Actual/Simulated): 75 hours
