The Role: International Cabin Crew Professional
The International Flight Attendant operates under the administrative guidance of the Inflight Service Coordinator and reports functionally to the Purser of the assigned flight. This safety-sensitive role requires highly professional demeanor, dependability, and an unwavering commitment to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and internal standards while serving diverse international clientele.
Core Responsibilities and Duties
The Flight Attendant is responsible for the execution of critical safety, security, and exceptional customer service duties, which include, but are not limited to:
Ensuring comprehensive compliance with all FAA regulations, internal company policies, and the laws and procedures governing operations within foreign jurisdictions and over the high seas.
Conducting mandatory pre-flight and security checks, promptly reporting any discrepancies to the Purser.
Continuously monitoring aircraft safety conditions and emergency equipment while on the ground and in flight.
Effectively implementing emergency instructions from the flight deck crew and assisting passengers and crew members during critical situations.
Operating mechanical and safety equipment, including aircraft doors, oxygen systems, evacuation slides/rafts, communications equipment, and fire extinguishers.
Providing exemplary customer service, acting as a courteous and accurate source of information for passengers.
Initiating service recovery measures immediately when required to ensure superior customer satisfaction.
Preparing and serving meals and beverages, including alcoholic beverages and various food items (such as beef, pork, and seafood).
Delivering clear and effective in-service announcements, safety demonstrations, and emergency instructions.
Providing specialized assistance to passengers, including stowing luggage in overhead compartments, administering emergency medical aid, and supporting disabled passengers.
Interacting professionally and diplomatically with individuals from a broad range of cultures and backgrounds.
Completing necessary paperwork and utilizing basic computer skills as required.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this vital International Flight Attendant position, candidates must meet the following mandatory criteria:
SOFA Status: Must possess and maintain valid SOFA status in Japan as a dependent or spouse of military personnel.
Age: Must be 21 years of age or older.
Language: Must demonstrate fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
Passport: Must possess and maintain a valid international passport without impediment preventing entry to all international destinations serviced by the airline.
Background/Testing: Successful completion of a 10-year background check, including an FAA-mandated fingerprint-based criminal history records check, and successful completion of pre-employment and subsequent FAA drug and alcohol testing.
Training: Must attend and successfully complete Omni Air International Flight Attendant training.
Availability: Ability to work flexible, variable blocks of duty days each month, including scheduled flight duty periods of 20 hours or more, and deadhead travel periods up to 26 hours.
Deployment: Ability to be away from base for 19 or more continuous days at any time, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Employment Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without requiring sponsorship.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or GED is required.
A minimum of one year of prior customer service or public service experience is required.
Physical and Mental Capabilities
The role requires specific physical dexterity and mental resilience. Candidates must:
Be able to stand or walk for more than two-thirds of the flight time.
Be capable of lifting up to 60 pounds overhead.
Be able to perform tasks requiring frequent walking, bending below ankle level, and reaching above shoulder level to access compartments.
Be capable of opening and closing cabin door exits and removing over-wing exits (weighing approximately 60 pounds).
Possess the ability to apply common sense and diplomacy in understanding and dealing with the flying public under all circumstances.
Be able to recognize, respond to, and provide appropriate leadership during emergency, medical, security, and highly stressful situations.
Demonstrate the ability to make quick, sound decisions that impact safety and service delivery.
