Job Summary
The Assistant Chief Pilot, Training will contribute to the success of our company’s vision and mission by assisting the office of the Chief Pilot to principally maintain, develop and review flight operations training programs and manuals, in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.
In addition, the Assistant Chief Pilot, Training will contribute to oversight of the pilot group, including day-to-day aircraft line operations, and inter-departmental coordination of daily activities.
Reporting Structure
The Assistant Chief Pilot, Training will report directly to the Chief Pilot.
Accountability
The Assistant Chief Pilot, Training will aid the regulatory Chief Pilot in their responsibilities by assuming accountability with respect to:
Development and maintenance of flight operations training programs and manuals, including generic, flight follower/flight dispatcher, and aircraft specific training syllabi for all types which meet the Canadian Aviation Regulations, TCCA Commercial Service Standards, TCCA Advisory Circulars and/or foreign publications (as applicable).
Oversight of learning materials, including classroom and computer based programs, in arrangement with training personnel or internal/external product developers.
Oversight of initial and recurrent flight operations training, including the planning and development of training schedules, forecasting and coordination/communication with contract training providers, in arrangement with the training coordinator.
Oversight of flight operations training and qualification records, including their accurate and full completion, in arrangement with the training coordinator.
Oversight or development of training and checking principals, including objective grading, commenting and de-briefing or briefing techniques.
Conduct workshops or meetings to ensure all flight operations training is conducted in the same manner with clear expectations and standards.
Maintain and acquire flight operations training equipment, supplies, learning aids and/or identify training solutions.
Assistance with supervision of flight operations training and checking personnel.
Assistance with inter-departmental coordination as related to flight operations training.
Assistance with review of aircraft operations to ensure training and procedures remain relevant, current and consistent with leading industry principals, best practices and/or recommendations.
Assistance with interpretation and/or identification of flight operations trends, including recommendations or development of correction actions (e.g. FDM).
Assistance with development of aircraft SOP's, normal or abnormal checklists (all types) in coordination with the regulatory Chief Pilot.
Participate in the North Cariboo Air SMS system as a representative of the flight operations management team.
Lead or contribute to SMS investigation(s) as related to flight operations training.
Provide technical guidance or support to the client and logistics teams (i.e. sales/OCC), as required.
Contribute to achieving the goals and objectives of the flight operations department.
All other duties as assigned by the regulatory Chief Pilot.
Experience & Qualifications
Post-secondary education or equivalent aviation experience and education.
Ability to hold a Transport Canada Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
Must have held qualification as PIC on at least one aircraft type in fleet.
Minimum 2 years flight operations training and/or supervisory experience.
Must possess excellent management, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Must be comfortable working with computers.
Check pilot experience (ACP) considered and asset.

The Assistant Chief Pilot, Training must have operational expertise, technical skills, as well as excellent organizational skills. This individual must have the ability to communicate clearly with all personnel across all departmental levels.
