Flight Operations Pilot (King Air)

The New York Power Authority seeks a highly skilled and experienced Flight Operations Pilot to manage and execute all aspects of the company's aircraft operations, based in White Plains, New York. The Pilot will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the company's King Air aircraft, while providing support to the NYPA enterprise. This role requires meticulous planning, adherence to strict FAA regulations, and a commitment to safety. The Flight Operations Pilot will report to the Chief Pilot and collaborate closely with department leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Pilot-in-Command, safely operating the company aircraft in compliance with FAA regulations and approved operating procedures.
  • Maintain in-flight control of the aircraft, continuously monitoring performance, limitations, and fuel requirements.
  • Assess weather conditions, evaluate alternate airport options, and adjust flight operations as necessary.
  • Conduct thorough flight planning and ensure aircraft readiness through routine maintenance and servicing.
  • Utilize PFM software to maintain and verify aircraft and pilot flight records.
  • Collaborate with department personnel for reports and scheduling.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Chief Pilot and Travel Desk, updating schedule changes and accommodating passenger needs.
  • Process and edit flight requests, guaranteeing accurate data entry in the PFM system.
  • Maintain current aircraft navigational databases, charts, and relevant FAA publications.
  • Ensure familiarity with and adherence to the Company Aircraft Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Coordinate with fixed-base operators for necessary services including fueling, de-icing, and hangar stays.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of all FAA regulations pertinent to aircraft operations and Flight Department policies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with passengers and crew.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability to facilitate safe and efficient travel under changing conditions.
  • Capacity to provide clear, concise instructions and guidance to passengers and crew during normal and emergency operations.
  • Proven ability to make critical in-flight decisions based on comprehensive evaluation of conditions, options, and input from copilots.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:

  • Required: FAA Airline Transport Pilot license with instrument and multi-engine ratings.
  • Required: Minimum of 3500 total flight hours.
  • Required: High school diploma.
  • Preferred: Minimum of 1500 hours in multi-engine aircraft as Pilot-in-Command.
  • Preferred: King Air BE-300 type certification.
  • Preferred: Current King Air 350/360 simulator-based training course.
  • Preferred: A minimum of two years of college or equivalent technical experience.
  • FAA 2nd Class medical certificate required.

This position requires a high level of operational experience to ensure the safety and security of personnel and company assets. The role may require occasional operations outside of normal business hours, including nights and weekends, and exposure to varying meteorological conditions.
