Purpose of Position

EJM is seeking qualified Second in Command candidates for a Citation Sovereign aircraft based in St. Louis, MO (KSUS). This position is part of a dedicated three-pilot account, supported by an onsite Maintenance Technician. The operation anticipates flying approximately 750 hours per year under EJM’s Part 135 Certificate within a well-established, high-performing flight department.

The Second in Command is responsible for the welfare of passengers concerning all aspects of safety and service. The role requires proficiency in appropriate Abnormal and Emergency procedures, as well as all areas of cabin systems and operations. Reporting to the Chief Pilot, the Second in Command is accountable for performing all assigned duties involved in the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments. On scheduled trips, this role is responsible to the assigned Pilot in Command (PIC) for all duties delegated by the PIC.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The Second in Command performs pilot duties in accordance with the Company General Operations Manual (GOM), FAA Regulations, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, and other pertinent instructions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring company goals for safety, security, and quality are met through continual compliance with the company Safety Management System (SMS) program and reporting recommendations or non-compliance observations.
  • Performing post-flight duties for the aircraft interior, including removing debris from the cockpit, clearing catering and ice, and reporting interior equipment discrepancies to the PIC.
  • Arranging and obtaining cabin items, such as catering, as identified by the Flight Operations Center.
  • Providing the highest level of customer service at all times.
  • Coordinating all work schedules and schedule changes with the Chief Pilot.
  • Logging and reporting flight and duty times.
  • Reporting all commercial flying performed outside the Company to the Flight Operations Center for inclusion in Flight and Duty Time Records.
  • Maintaining and providing the Flight Operations Training Department with a copy of the First Class Medical Certificate by the twentieth of the month due.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other (KSAOs)

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Strong prioritizing and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple, high-level priorities.
  • Proactive decision-making skills.
  • Ability to uphold service standards in a strict and changing regulatory environment.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Residency in, or ability to relocate to, the St. Louis, MO area.
  • A valid First Class Medical certificate.
  • A type rating in the CE680 series is preferred but not required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Total flight time: 2500 hours
  • Multi Engine Land (MEL): 500 hours
  • Pilot in Command: 500 hours
  • Instrument: 150 hours
  • Jet: 250 hours
  • Turbine Engine: 100 hours
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate
