Position Purpose
EJM seeks a qualified and experienced Pilot in Command for a Citation XLS aircraft. This position is based in Wheeling, Illinois (KPWK airport) and supports a dedicated three-pilot account complemented by a Maintenance Technician. Operations include both Part 91 and Part 135 flights.
Note: This is a non-commutable position and requires the Pilot in Command to reside within driving distance of KPWK airport.
The Pilot in Command holds ultimate responsibility for ensuring the aircraft is operated in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. This role requires adherence to all company and regulatory requirements while consistently delivering an exceptional service experience to passengers.
Key Responsibilities
The Pilot in Command performs a range of critical duties, focusing on safety, service, and compliance:
Ensuring the Safe Operation of Flight:
- Ensures crewing and trip assignments meet company and regulatory standards.
- Accurately completes flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance for each assignment.
- Utilizes Threats, Plans and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to lead required briefings and effectively mitigate operational risks.
- Complies with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinates necessary actions with company personnel. Serves as the Grounds Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator according to company policy.
- Completes all required aircraft pre-flight tasks, including verifying the aircraft's maintenance status to confirm mission capability. Records all aircraft discrepancies following company SOPs.
- Monitors and ensures all aircraft ground servicing items (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen) are accomplished in accordance with SOPs.
- Conducts comprehensive passenger briefings in line with company policy and regulatory requirements. Provides the highest level of customer service, attending to any special needs of passengers, including those who are physically challenged.
- Employs Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles to communicate clearly and promptly with the flight crew and support personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.
Delivering an Exceptional Service Experience:
- Provides high-quality service to aircraft owners and passengers, actively identifying opportunities to enhance the overall EJM service experience. Investigates and resolves service deviations as they occur.
- Collaborates effectively with fellow crew members and internal EJM partners to ensure a consistent and superior service experience for owners and passengers. Resolves conflicts and challenges professionally.
Maintaining Proficiency and Compliance:
- Maintains all required regulatory and company training, as well as recency of experience.
- Complies with the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program and reports any safety or non-compliance concerns through the designated channels.
Required Qualifications
Certifications and Licenses:
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
- Valid First Class Medical Certificate.
- FAA Type rating in the applicable fleet (Citation XLS) is strongly preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4-6 years of aviation experience.
- Prior experience in corporate or business aviation is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAOs):
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Minimum Flight Time Requirements:
- Total flight time: 3500 hours
- Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command: 2000 hours
- PIC MEL: 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
Compensation
Base salary ranges vary based on aircraft cabin size responsibility:
Small/Mid/Supermid Cabin Aircraft: $160,000 – $325,000
Large/Heavy/Premium Cabin Aircraft: $160,000 – $425,000
