Pilot in Command - Citation XLS - Waukegan, IL
Executive Jet Management (EJM), a Berkshire Hathaway company and a subsidiary of NetJets, seeks a qualified Pilot in Command (PIC) for a Citation XLS aircraft. This position is based in Waukegan, Illinois, at KUGN airport. This is a three-pilot account supported by a dedicated Maintenance Technician, operating under both Part 91 and 135 regulations.
Important Note: This is not a commutable position. The successful candidate must reside within driving distance of Waukegan National Airport (KUGN).

Purpose of Position
The Pilot in Command holds the ultimate responsibility for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the aircraft. The PIC adheres to all company policies and regulatory requirements while providing an exceptional service experience.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Ensuring the Safe Operation of Flight:
- Verifies that crewing and trip assignments comply with all company and regulatory requirements.
- Completes flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance tasks for each assignment.
- Employs Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to lead briefings and mitigate operational risks.
- Complies with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinates with company personnel as required. Serves as the Grounds Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as defined by company policy.
- Completes all aircraft pre-flight tasks, including verifying the maintenance status of the aircraft, to ensure mission readiness. Records all aircraft discrepancies in accordance with company SOPs.
- Ensures all aircraft ground servicing requirements (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen) are monitored and fulfilled according to SOPs.
- Delivers passenger briefings in accordance with company policy and regulations. Provides the highest level of customer service and addresses any special passenger needs.
- Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles to communicate clearly and promptly with crew and support personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.
- Delivering an Exceptional Service Experience:
- Provides outstanding service to owners and passengers, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience. Investigates and resolves service deviations effectively.
- Collaborates with fellow crew members and EJM internal partners to deliver a consistent service experience to owners and passengers. Resolves conflicts and challenges constructively.
- Maintaining Proficiency and Compliance:
- Maintains all regulatory and company-required training and recency of experience.
- Complies with the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program and reports any safety or non-compliance concerns through the appropriate channels.
Certifications and Licenses
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate
- First Class Medical Certificate
Years of Experience
4-6 years of aviation experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other (KSAOs)
- Prior experience in corporate/business aviation is preferred.
- FAA Type rating in applicable fleet is required.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Minimum Time Requirements:
- Total flight time: 3500 hours
- Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command: 2000 hours
- PIC MEL: 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
Base Salary Range
- Small/Mid/Supermid Cabin: $160,000 – $325,000
- Large/Heavy/Premium Cabin: $160,000 – $425,000
