The Opportunity
EJM, a Berkshire Hathaway company, seeks a highly motivated and experienced Captain for a Challenger CL300 aircraft based in Chicago, IL at MDW airport. This exclusive two-pilot account, supported by a dedicated Maintenance Technician, provides flight services for a discerning owner under both Part 135 (non-retail charter) and Part 91 regulations.
This unique opportunity offers a balanced lifestyle with an average of 250 flight hours annually. Operations primarily focus on domestic travel, with a few international trips to the Caribbean and Mexico.
Work-Life Balance
This position prioritizes a healthy work-life balance. Crew members enjoy the benefit of scheduling dedicated days off each month. Trips are planned in advance, and travel home during multi-day layovers is frequently approved.
Location
This position is not commutable and requires residing within driving distance of Midway airport (MDW).
Responsibilities
As Pilot in Command (PIC), you hold the ultimate responsibility for ensuring the aircraft is operated safely, compliantly, and efficiently. This includes:
Safety
- Ensuring all crewing and trip assignments adhere to company and regulatory requirements.
- Meticulously planning flights, accounting for performance, weight, and balance for every assignment.
- Leading required briefings using the Threats, Plans and Considerations (TPC) methodology to mitigate operational risks.
- Upholding company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), coordinating with personnel, and acting as Grounds Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as per company policy.
- Diligently completing pre-flight tasks, including verifying aircraft maintenance status, and recording any discrepancies according to company SOPs.
- Supervising all aircraft ground servicing procedures, including fueling, oil, and oxygen, ensuring adherence to SOPs.
- Providing comprehensive passenger briefings in line with company policy and regulations, delivering exceptional customer service and catering to any special passenger needs.
- Employing Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles for clear and timely communication with crew and support personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.
Service Excellence
- Providing exceptional service to owners and passengers while proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM experience.
- Regularly addressing and resolving service deviations to maintain the highest standards.
- Collaborating effectively with fellow crew members and EJM internal partners to deliver a consistent and seamless service experience for owners and passengers.
- Demonstrating exceptional conflict resolution skills, addressing challenges in a professional and acceptable manner.
Professionalism & Compliance
- Maintaining all regulatory and company-required training and recency of experience.
- Adhering to the company Safety Management System (SMS) program and diligently reporting any safety or non-compliance concerns through appropriate channels.
Qualifications
- 4-6 years of experience in corporate/business aviation is preferred.
- FAA Type rating in the applicable fleet is required.
- Proven ability to perform the essential functions of the position is essential.
Minimum Flight Time Requirements
- Total Flight Time: 3500 hours
- Multi-Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command (PIC): 2000 hours
- PIC MEL: 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
