Position Purpose

The primary objective of the First Officer is to provide an exceptional air transportation experience, maintaining an impeccable safety record on all flights. As the representative face of NetJets, the First Officer delivers not only technically proficient and secure flight operations but also an outstanding service experience for every NetJets Owner and passenger. This role demands versatility, requiring the First Officer to function as a professional aviator and an in-flight service provider, embodying a concierge-level service standard. The First Officer operates under the Captain's command and must consistently uphold a high degree of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensures the safe operation of the aircraft, including taxi, take-off, and landing, in strict adherence to FAA guidelines, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Checklists, NetJets Flight Operations Manual (FOM) or Aircraft Operating Manual (AOM), and Standard Operating Practices (SOPs).
  • Engages with Owners/passengers pre-flight, conducts introductions, provides comprehensive flight and trip briefings, verifies itineraries, and offers updated weather information and safety briefings, communicating any itinerary changes effectively.
  • Provides in-flight services as required, including the responsible handling and service of alcohol and catering.
  • Manages the loading and proper stowing of all baggage aboard the aircraft.
  • Handles flights involving Owners' pets and accommodates Owners who smoke.
  • Acts as the ultimate authority on the aircraft concerning all operational aspects, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory guidance.
  • Serves as a vital liaison between Owners/passengers and NetJets from their arrival at the FBO until their safe landing and departure from the final FBO.
  • Communicates any maintenance abnormalities or discrepancies accurately to the Company via the on-duty Aircraft Maintenance Control Center (MCC) Controller.
  • Completes all required documentation related to maintenance abnormalities or discrepancies.
  • Performs other assigned duties as necessitated by the specific assignment.

Education:

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Written FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP)
  • Current First Class Medical Certificate

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements (KSAOs):

  • Must possess an FAA ATP, Restricted ATP (R-ATP), or meet the requirements for an FAA ATP or Restricted ATP (R-ATP) certificate with a multi-engine rating, including:
    • Minimum 21 years of age.
    • 1,500 hours of total flight time, or 1,250 hours with an appropriate university R-ATP certificate, or 1,000 hours with military pilot qualification, or 1,000 hours with an appropriate university R-ATP certificate.
    • 200 hours of cross-country flight time (>50 nm).
    • 250 hours of fixed-wing Pilot-In-Command (PIC) flight time.
    • 100 hours of night flying, or 75 hours with at least 45 night takeoffs and landings.
    • 75 hours of instrument time (actual or simulated in-flight, excluding simulator time).
    • ATP written exam completed prior to the start of Indoctrination Training.
    • 50 hours of fixed-wing, multi-engine flight time.
  • Must possess a current FAA First-Class Medical certificate.
  • Must hold an FCC Restricted Radio Operator's Permit.
  • Must possess a valid passport.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and travel internationally without restriction.
  • Must be available to work varying hours, including days, nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must demonstrate extreme flexibility and the ability to adapt to rapid changes.
  • Must be capable of managing personal rest to ensure flight readiness at all times.
  • Must be prepared for duty durations up to fourteen hours per day for up to eight consecutive days, potentially spanning multiple time zones and experiencing extreme weather variations.
  • May be away from home for seven or more consecutive days and nights, requiring overnight stays in hotels.
  • Must be able to obtain appropriate airport authority and/or U.S. Customs security badges.
  • Must successfully pass Transportation Security Administration (TSA) required background screening.
  • Must possess a valid United States passport and be able to travel internationally without restrictions.
  • Must possess a valid State driver's license.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing, and fluently speaking and understanding the English language.
  • Must exhibit strong service orientation, maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance, and demonstrate the ability to make a positive impression and interact effectively with passengers.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly under pressure.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to make prompt, accurate decisions while maintaining meticulous attention to detail in both technical and passenger-service aspects.
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be comfortable working around animals, including their handling and care before, during, and after Owner flights.
  • Must be able to conduct flights for Owners who smoke.
