Position Summary
NetJets Aviation, Inc. is seeking highly skilled and dedicated aviation professionals for the position of First Officer, primarily serving the Midwest Region. The First Officer plays a pivotal role in delivering a superior air transportation experience, upholding an impeccable safety record on every flight. This role extends beyond technical aviation; the First Officer acts as a direct representative of NetJets, providing an exceptional, concierge-level service experience for every NetJets Owner and passenger. Candidates must embody professionalism and demonstrate versatility, fulfilling roles ranging from expert aviator to in-flight service provider, while always maintaining full command of the aircraft.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe operation of the aircraft during all phases of flight, from taxi, take-off, to landing, in strict adherence to FAA guidelines, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Checklists, NetJets Flight Operations Manual (FOM), Aircraft Operating Manual (AOM), and Standard Operating Practices (SOPs).
- Greet Owners and passengers pre-flight, provide introductions, conduct comprehensive flight and safety briefings, communicate weather updates, verify itineraries, and explain any changes.
- Deliver exemplary in-flight service, including the professional handling of catering and alcoholic beverages.
- Efficiently load and properly stow all baggage on the aircraft.
- Confidently conduct flights accommodating Owners with pets and those who smoke.
- Serve as the final authority on the aircraft regarding all operational areas, ensuring full compliance with applicable safety and regulatory guidance.
- Act as a primary liaison for Owners and passengers, coordinating their journey from arrival at the Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) until safe departure from their final FBO.
- Accurately communicate any maintenance abnormalities or discrepancies to the Company's Maintenance Control Center (MCC) Controller for the assigned fleet.
- Meticulously complete all required paperwork associated with maintenance abnormalities or discrepancies.
- Perform other duties as assigned, depending on specific operational requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Certifications and Licenses
- Valid Written FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate is mandatory.
- A current FAA First-Class Medical Certificate is essential.
- FCC Restricted Radio Operator's Permit.
- Valid United States passport, enabling unrestricted international travel.
- Valid State driver's license.
Flight Experience (One of the following ATP or R-ATP options)
Candidates must possess an FAA ATP, Restricted ATP (R-ATP), or meet the requirements for an FAA ATP or R-ATP certificate with a multi-engine rating as follows (in accordance with 14 CFR Part 61.160):
- At least 21 years of age.
- 1,500 hours total flight time experience, OR
- 1,250 hours with an appropriate university R-ATP certificate, OR
- 1,000 hours with military pilot qualification, OR
- 1,000 hours with an appropriate university R-ATP certificate.
- Minimum of 200 hours cross-country (>50 nm) flight time.
- Minimum of 250 hours fixed-wing Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time.
- Minimum of 100 hours of night flying, or 75 hours with ≥45 night takeoffs and landings.
- Minimum of 75 hours of instrument time (actual or simulated in-flight, excluding simulator time).
- ATP written examination must be completed prior to the start of Indoctrination Training.
- Minimum of 50 hours fixed-wing, multi-engine time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAOs)
- Authorization to work in the U.S. and travel in and out of the country without restriction.
- Ability to work varying hours, including day and night shifts; weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Exceptional flexibility and adaptability to rapid operational changes.
- Proficient in managing personal rest to ensure readiness for flight duty at all times during tours.
- Capacity for duty periods lasting up to fourteen hours per day for up to eight days, potentially spanning different time zones and extreme weather conditions within a single trip.
- Willingness to be away from home for seven or more days and nights while on duty, staying in hotels.
- Ability to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, and pass Transportation Security Administration (TSA) required background screenings.
- Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
- Service-oriented with a neat, well-groomed appearance and a demonstrated ability to create a positive impression, including strong capabilities to effectively interact with passengers.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, especially under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to make quick and accurate decisions while maintaining meticulous attention to detail, from both a technical and passenger-service perspective.
- Physical capability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Comfortable working around animals, including handling and care prior to, during, and after Owner flights.
- Ability to conduct flights for Owners who smoke.

Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary Range
The estimated base salary for this First Officer position ranges from $86,015 - $117,706, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
