Purpose of Position

The Flight Procedures Developer, Technical Pilot plays a pivotal role in enhancing aviation safety and operational efficiency. This position is responsible for developing and implementing specialized approach, departure, and landing procedures for the diverse NetJets aircraft fleet. The role involves meticulous analysis of terrain, obstructions, airspace, and the intricate capabilities of aircraft and avionics systems to create precise flight paths and tailored approaches for specific airports or regions, ensuring optimal navigation under various flight conditions.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Flight Procedures Developer, Technical Pilot include:

  • Designing and developing Special Instrument Approach Procedures (SIAPs), ensuring rigorous compliance with FAA, ICAO, and other international regulatory standards.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments and analyses of existing flight procedures to identify opportunities for enhancement, efficiency improvements, and expanded operational access.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships with air traffic control personnel, NetJets pilots, and other key stakeholders to gather essential requirements and integrate valuable feedback into procedure development.
  • Providing expert technical support and comprehensive training to both internal teams and external partners on the effective use and seamless implementation of specialized flight procedures.
  • Maintaining a proactive commitment to staying abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and evolving regulatory changes pertinent to instrument flight procedures.
  • Executing thorough testing and rigorous validation of new and modified special procedures utilizing FAA-approved Level D flight simulators, verifying flyability across each aircraft type, avionics accuracy, uncompromising safety, and strict adherence to all regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • A Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field is required. A Master's degree is highly preferred.

Certifications and Licenses

  • Possession of an FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate is mandatory.
  • Professional certification or specialized training in instrument procedure design standards (e.g., FAA TERPS, ICAO PANS-OPS) is also required.

Experience

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in aviation, preferably within flight operations or flight procedure design roles.
  • Demonstrated experience with FAA-approved Level D flight simulators.
  • Experience in flight inspection or flight validation processes is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAOs)

  • Deep familiarity with the NetJets aircraft fleet is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in utilizing design software and specialized tools for flight path and approach procedure development.
  • A profound understanding of aviation regulations and industry standards.
  • Exceptional analytical acumen, robust problem-solving capabilities, and superior communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Air Traffic Control (ATC) personnel in developing mutually functional and suitable flight procedures.
  • Fluent in fundamental concepts of modern navigation, including Performance-Based Navigation (PBN), Area Navigation (RNAV), Required Navigation Performance (RNP), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS), and Vertical Navigation (VNAV).
  • Strong project management skills, coupled with the ability to efficiently manage multiple complex projects concurrently.

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary Range: $130,000 - $235,000
