The organization is seeking a full-time Part 107 Pilot to operationally execute customer projects while upholding the highest safety standards.

Position Summary

The UAS Part 107 Senior Pilot is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) for missions conducted under both Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) and Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) parameters. This senior role also entails the maintenance, evaluation, and enhancement of NUAIR’s enterprise UAS Service Supplier (USS) system. The position involves direct participation in client project planning and execution, encompassing flight operations and consultation for program development and training initiatives. The Senior Pilot reports directly to the Chief Pilot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain operational flight proficiency across all designated UAS platforms, including proficiency in both manual and automated flight operations.
  • Achieve qualification as and serve as Mission Crew Commander, consistently exercising sound aeronautical judgment during sUAS operations and flight supervision.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of platform airworthiness, assess the viability of operational locations, and perform valid analyses of weather conditions for all assigned flight operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance, evaluation, and improvement of NUAIR’s enterprise UAS Service Supplier (USS) system.
  • Sustain a high level of situational awareness and deep knowledge of current UAS industry advancements, reporting key industry trajectories to inform company strategy and business development.
  • Function as an integral member of project delivery teams for consultative projects, supporting New York State agencies, public benefit corporations, and other public and commercial clients. This includes data collection and analysis, development and consultation on processes, procedures, and methodologies, among other project deliverables.
  • Adhere to and maintain a working knowledge of company operational policies, safety processes, and incident reporting procedures.
  • Provide essential logistical support to clients at various field locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support NUAIR’s mission.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a valid Part 107 small category UAS remote pilot certificate.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience operating sUAS in a commercial, government, or military capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience operating sUAS Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS).
  • Proven experience operating within an enterprise UAS Service Supplier (USS) framework.
  • A Part 91 Commercial or Private Pilot certificate with an Instrument Rating is considered a significant advantage.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
