Job Overview:
Maverick Drone Systems is seeking a skilled and experienced UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Pilot to join our dynamic team. As a UAS Pilot, you will be responsible for operating drones to perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to public safety operations, solar panel inspections, mapping, and other specialized missions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:

UAS Operation: Safely and efficiently operate drones according to Maverick Drone Systems' Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and FAA regulations.

Mission Planning: Assist in planning and preparing for flights, including conducting pre-flight checks, assessing weather conditions, and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready and functional.

Data Collection & Analysis: Capture high-quality aerial data, including images, videos, and other relevant information. Work with the team to analyze and interpret collected data.

Public Safety Support: Collaborate with law enforcement, fire departments, and other public safety agencies to provide aerial support for emergency and non-emergency situations.

Inspections & Surveys: Conduct inspections and surveys for clients, including solar panel inspections, infrastructure assessments, and land mapping.

Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on UAS equipment, ensuring all systems are in optimal working condition. Report and troubleshoot any issues.

Compliance: Ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies. Maintain accurate records of flight logs and other documentation.

Client Interaction: Engage with clients professionally, providing clear communication and ensuring their needs are met during operations.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest UAS technology, industry trends, and best practices. Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.

Qualifications:

FAA Part 107 Certification: Must hold a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.

Experience: Proven experience in operating drones for commercial or public safety purposes. Experience with a variety of UAS platforms is preferred.

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of drone technology, flight dynamics, and data collection methods. Proficiency in UAS software and tools.

Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and solve problems in real-time during flight operations.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with team members and clients.

Required Experience:

Commercial Flight Experience: Minimum of 200+ verifiable hours of commercial sUAS flight experience.

Professional sUAS Experience: At least 3+ years of experience with professional-level sUAS systems and project support.

Remote Sensing: 5-8 years of experience in remote sensing technologies, with a strong background in photogrammetry, LiDAR, or related areas.

Photography and Imaging: Advanced knowledge of photography, particularly in relation to sUAS operations.

Education: Associate degree in UAS, Aviation, Surveying, Engineering Technology, or a related field.

Certifications: ASPRS Certification or other industry-recognized certifications are preferred.

Large Airframe Experience: Experience with large airframes, particularly those with hybrid fuel systems, is desirable.

Travel and Availability: Willingness to travel up to 50-75% of the time and support flight crews, with the flexibility to be on call as needed.

Troubleshooting Skills: Thorough understanding of system integration and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
Preferred Qualifications:

GIS Experience: Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping software.

Education & Certifications:

Degree: Minimum of a 2-year college degree in a relevant field.

FAA Certifications: Part 107 certification is required; Part 61 is strongly preferred.

Experience: 2+ years of experience managing drone operations, with 1+ years in the utility industry or a related field preferred.
