Aviation Ground Instructor - Theoretical Knowledge

Role Purpose

The Ground Instructor, also known as a Theoretical Knowledge Instructor, plays a pivotal role in equipping flight crew members with the comprehensive theoretical knowledge and understanding necessary for the safe and effective operation of aircraft. This position is responsible for managing and supervising theoretical training courses and programs. These programs are essential to meet the stringent training and licensing requirements for flight crew members, instructors, and examiners, as mandated by the regulatory authority. Adherence to the policies and procedures outlined in Civil Aviation Authority Manual (CAAM) documentation and MAB Academy Manuals is paramount.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conducting theoretical knowledge training for flight crew members, ensuring strict alignment with applicable regulatory requirements and company objectives.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of training programs designed to cover essential aviation topics comprehensively.
  • Developing and managing programs specifically for the selection and training of examiners, ensuring they meet both regulatory and company standards.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert in aviation to create and update theoretical knowledge training courses and associated materials.
  • Ensuring all training materials remain current, relevant, and reflective of industry developments.
  • Fostering strong, supportive relationships with trainees, particularly those encountering challenges in their professional progression.
  • Providing dedicated support and guidance to trainees, assisting them in overcoming difficulties and achieving success in their training endeavors.
  • Managing and diligently observing the completion of all theoretical knowledge training forms and progress reports, ensuring strict adherence to Company and Regulatory requirements.
  • Establishing and maintaining rigorous quality assurance procedures to uphold the highest standards in theoretical knowledge training delivery.
  • Conducting regular audits and evaluations of training programs to ensure consistency, efficacy, and compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of aviation regulations and ensuring all training activities are conducted in strict adherence to these regulations.
  • Collaborating effectively with regulatory authorities to ensure ongoing compliance and facilitate necessary updates to training protocols.
  • Continuously assessing and improving training methodologies, procedures, and materials to enhance the overall effectiveness and impact of training programs.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the dedicated training team.

Qualifications & Working Experience

  • A CAAM CPL/IR with Frozen ATPL License, or
  • A relevant Aviation Engineering Degree or an equivalent qualification.
  • Completion of the HRDF Train the Trainer Course.
  • Certification as a CAAM Ground Instructor.
  • A minimum of 1 year of operational experience as a pilot in a commercial environment, or
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a ground instructor certified by CAAM.

Areas of Experience

  • Extensive experience in preparing flight documents, navigation, air traffic management systems, and flight planning systems.
  • Solid knowledge of aircraft systems and performance, specifically for the Boeing 737-800.

  • Broad knowledge of regulatory frameworks and pilot training requirements.
  • Proven organizational and administrative skills with demonstrable success in managing diverse individuals, tasks, and activities.
  • Ability to drive change management initiatives within a highly regulated environment, aiming for enhanced efficiency and improved structural cost management with a strong business and commercial focus.
  • Flexibility and the capacity to adapt quickly to evolving requirements and dynamic situations.
