Flight Simulator Instructor
This position reports to the Chief Flight Simulator Instructor.
The Flight Simulator Instructor conducts flight crew training in the simulator and provides technical ground training. At the direction of the Chief Flight Simulator Instructor, the instructor delivers training to flight crew, encompassing classroom instruction, simulator instruction, or a combination thereof, based on individual qualifications. The core responsibilities center on teaching ground, simulator, and flight operations. Duties include curriculum development, lesson delivery, student review and grading, monitoring aircraft and equipment condition, student mentorship, trainee enhancement program participation, and the creation of student reports.
Key Accountabilities:
- Conducts APT/Synthetic/Simulator Training for cadets and pilots.
- Performs progress reviews in the simulator as approved by the Chief Flight Simulator Instructor.
- Recommends additional or remedial training for pilots not progressing at an acceptable rate.
- Suggests changes to the Instructional Service Manager to enhance efficiency, safety, or training quality.
- Delivers classroom training/ground school lectures as required.
- Executes office duties, projects, course development, and other tasks assigned by the Chief Flight Simulator Instructor.
- Conducts training for flight crew members in accordance with the MABA Training Programs.
- Provides fixed-base instruction, full-motion flight simulation instruction, and/or classroom instruction for flight crew members' initial, recurrent, upgrade, and/or differences training in ground school, fixed-base, and/or full flight simulators.
- Completes flight crew member training records and other flight training documentation in a timely manner.
- Proactively ensures the training environment and equipment are prepared for instruction.
- Ensures the technical accuracy of departmental and training manuals, including aircraft systems manuals, flight handbooks, performance manuals, checklists, flight operations manuals, and operations specifications.
- Contributes to the development of training programs, visual aids, and other training materials for classroom presentation and individual review.
- Communicates concerns or exceptional achievements regarding crew member performance promptly.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism and instills motivation in crew members.
- Maintains a high level of knowledge and understanding of Company Procedures and Policies.
- Performs additional functions to support crew member training as assigned.
Qualifications & Working Experience:
- Prior flying experience as Flight Commander for the relevant fleet (Captain).
- Ability to qualify for CAAM-approved FI qualification.
- ATPL holder.
- 10-15 years of relevant working experience.
Areas of Experience:
- Prior training experience or extensive flying experience.
- Must be a licensed pilot or have held a license in accordance with CAAM regulations, with extensive experience flying the type of aircraft.
- Experienced in performing all tasks in both a simulator and in flight.
- Familiarity with flying terminology and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
