Position Overview

Lone Star College (LSC) is seeking a dedicated and professional Faculty member for the Professional Pilot program. This full-time, regular position is responsible for facilitating student learning, fostering an environment of academic excellence, and upholding the college’s mission. Essential Job Functions

  • Teach assigned pilot training courses and labs at varying times and locations.
  • Review and utilize innovative instructional methodologies to enhance learning quality.
  • Develop and maintain course syllabi in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Ensure all activities strictly adhere to FAA, AABI, and institutional safety standards.
  • Design and implement diverse teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles.
  • Evaluate student progress, provide timely feedback, and submit required institutional reports.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the broader community.
  • Provide student access through consistent office hours and electronic communication.
  • Engage in professional development and institutional service in collaboration with the Dean.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in any field.
  • Current FAA certifications: Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) OR Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) and Instrument Ground Instructor (IGI).
  • Minimum of 3 years of non-teaching industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Aviation or a related field.
  • Current Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
  • Experience as a Chief or Assistant Chief Flight Instructor.
  • 4+ years of experience as an aviation instructor or commercial pilot.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Desire2Learn or Blackboard.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position is a 12-month contract primarily focused on weekday operations, though it may include some evening or weekend requirements. The role is sedentary, performed in a climate-controlled office environment, with occasional requirements for walking, bending, or carrying light items up to 10 pounds.
