Lone Star College (LSC) is seeking a dedicated and professional faculty member for the Professional Pilot program. Position Summary

The faculty member is responsible for facilitating student learning through the delivery of high-quality pilot training courses and labs. The role encompasses teaching, professional development, and institutional service, ensuring that all instruction adheres to departmental guidelines and regulatory safety standards.

Essential Job Functions

  • Deliver pilot training courses and labs across various schedules and locations to meet institutional needs.
  • Review and implement innovative instructional methodologies and technologies.
  • Develop and utilize course syllabi in accordance with college and departmental standards.
  • Maintain strict compliance with FAA, AABI, and institutional safety regulations.
  • Assess student progress and provide timely feedback and support.
  • Maintain professional office hours and effective communication with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to institutional service initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in any field.
  • Current FAA certifications: Certified Flight Instructor-Airplane (CFI-A) AND Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFII); OR Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) AND Instrument Ground Instructor (IGI).
  • Minimum of 3 years of non-teaching industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Aviation or a related field.
  • Current Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
  • Previous experience as a Chief or Assistant Chief Flight Instructor.
  • 4+ years of experience as an aviation instructor or commercial pilot.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Desire2Learn or Blackboard.

  • Expertise in aviation course content and dedication to student success.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to utilize diverse instructional approaches, including technology integration and civic engagement.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

This role is primarily sedentary, performed in a climate-controlled office environment. Duties may include occasional walking, standing, or carrying light items up to 10 pounds. The position involves regular use of standard office equipment, including PC workstations, calculators, and communication devices.
