Aircraft Maintenance Controller
Location: NAS Fallon, Nevada
This position supports the Aeronautics Field Sustainment (AFS) aircraft maintenance team dedicated to the F-35 aircraft maintenance operation at NAS Fallon, Nevada. The Aircraft Maintenance Controller for the F-35 Program utilizes Fifth Generation aircraft management tools, specifically the Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS), to meticulously track aircraft history, maintenance records, engine data, Time Compliance Technical Data (TCTDs), and time change items. The team plays a critical role in supporting the F-35 aircraft at Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada, in direct support of the Navy’s Strike Fighter Instructor Program (Top Gun).
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizes aircraft data to forecast future maintenance events impacting aircraft operations.
- Performs scheduling, inspection tracking, and coordinates external support.
- Assists in the signing of aircraft exceptional releases and conducts various functions in accordance with applicable Interim Contractor Instructions (ICIs), Sustainment Operating Instructions (SOIs), and service guidance.
- Plans and develops current flight schedules to ensure efficient service, optimal utilization of aircraft, and company resources for maximum production.
- Coordinates with Maintenance Management regarding schedules, aircraft status, and emerging issues.
- Provides On-the-Job training to government and partner personnel on aircraft maintenance practices.
- Assists Operations Analysts with monitoring aircraft status and requesting base support.
- Coordinates TCTD execution with Aircraft Maintenance Managers, working with maintenance supervision to ensure timely completion of maintenance actions.
- Maintains accurate aircraft status boards and performs other duties as directed by management.
- Applies experience and judgment in selecting procedures for searching, interpreting, selecting, and coding information from ALIS and other relevant systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of aircraft maintenance experience in flight line operations at the 7-skill level (USAF AFSC), NEC (Navy), MOS (USMC) aircraft maintenance discipline, or equivalent civilian aircraft maintenance experience.
- Must include at least 2 years of F-35 or F-22 (Fifth Generation) aircraft maintenance.
- Must possess experience with programs such as Aircraft Scheduling, Aircraft Records Management, Maintenance Control, Aircraft Configuration Control, Maintenance Information Systems, Tool and FOD control, Training, Safety, Security, Hazardous Waste Management, or Supply Chain Management.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, or U.S. Marine Corps aircraft maintenance.
- Thorough understanding of Fighter Aircraft Systems and Operations.
- Experience with the Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS) or Integrated Information System (IMIS).
- Experience with Portable Maintenance Aid (PMA) activities, including aircraft forms documentation.
- Understanding of U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, or U.S. Marine Corps Maintenance Practices.
- Highly desirable experience as a Maintenance Controller, Aircraft Production Supervisor, and/or Aircraft Flightline Expediter.
- Knowledge and understanding of USAF AFI 21-101 or NAMP 4790.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Knowledgeable in Safety, Tool Control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Supply, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT), Training Management System (TMS), Quality, or Security programs.
- Experience developing employee work schedules.
- Ability to work in a flexible schedule environment.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Valid US Passport.
Other Requirements:
- Physical Demands: Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive movements, work overhead, use hands for grasping/handling/feeling, and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist.
- Ability to work first, second, or third shift depending on customer needs.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a flight line driver's competency card.
- Must be able to travel on short notice.
- Requires U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (Interim Secret required to start).
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
