Job Title: LUH-72A Lakota Simulator Instructor Operator

Program: Army National Guard (ARNG) Aviation Training Services and Operational Support (ATSOS)

Role Overview

The Intelligence and Operations Solutions Division of Leidos is seeking a qualified LUH-72A Lakota Simulator Instructor Operator to support the Army National Guard Aviation Training Services and Operational Support (ATSOS) program at the Western Army Aviation Training Site (WAATS) in Marana, AZ. The successful candidate will provide high-fidelity simulated flight training, classroom instruction, and technical expertise to enhance the readiness and proficiency of Army National Guard aviators, adhering to AR 95-1, TRADOC, and DCMA INST 8210-1D standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver simulated flight training focusing on aircraft systems, emergency procedures, and instrument flight operations.
  • Develop and maintain mission-specific training scenarios and conduct Aircrew Coordination Training-Enhanced (ACT-E) instruction.
  • Evaluate student pilots in accordance with approved Training Support Packages and maintain accurate records of training progression.
  • Conduct academic instruction for programs including Instructor Operator, Instrument Flight Examiner, Aviation Qualification, Instructor Pilot, and Functional Check Pilot.
  • Lead pre-mission planning and after-action reviews for all simulation events.
  • Manage simulator scheduling, publish schedules, and lead annual simulation conferences.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams, course managers, and regional users to ensure efficient utilization of simulation devices.
  • Prepare monthly simulator utilization and maintenance reports.
  • Serve as an RFMSS Fire Desk Operator and maintain a comprehensive simulator publication library.

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience: Prior Army Aviation (or military equivalent) training or operational experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Must be a USAACE/AATS-qualified Instructor Pilot in the applicable airframe OR possess a minimum of 3 years of I/O experience in the assigned device.
  • Certifications: Qualified as a unit trainer, instructor pilot, or maintenance test flight examiner. Must be a USAACE-qualified Instrument Flight Examiner.
  • Training Requirements: Instructor Training Course (ITC) or ABIC qualified (or ability to complete AATS-provided ABIC within 12 months). Must meet instructor qualification requirements per TR 350-10 and TR 350-70.
  • Operational Readiness: Ability to complete unit aircrew training program within 3 months if not currently an Instructor Pilot.
  • Security: Must hold or be able to obtain a favorable background investigation or appropriate security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation and Employment

The anticipated pay range for this position is $65,650.00 – $118,675.00. Compensation is determined by factors including responsibilities, education, experience, and market alignment.
