Senior Instructor - Fiber Optics
Leidos is seeking a dynamic Senior Instructor to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team. This role will support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Eastern Service Area (ESA) NISC support team, providing outstanding customer service and technical instruction for new hire Electronics personnel in fiber optics projects. This is a remote consulting position, with the requirement to travel to Lakeland, FL, or other locations as needed for training delivery.
Primary Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive classroom instruction through lecture, demonstration, and laboratory exercises, utilizing handouts, addressing student inquiries, and conducting assessments. Courses will be conducted in-person, with potential for both day and evening sessions.

Assist students in developing foundational skills essential for entry-level fiber optic cable installation and technician roles.

Instruct on the fundamental principles of fiber optic technology, including various fiber types, splicing techniques, network design, safety protocols, and the utilization of specialized tools for fiber optic network connectivity and activation.

Educate on electronic and fiber optic safety fundamentals, encompassing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), cable handling, proper use of chemicals, cleaners, and adhesives, adherence to industry standards, and best practices to prevent injury and equipment damage.

Provide instruction in both classroom and laboratory settings.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.

A minimum of 12 years of professional experience working with FAA electrical and electronics systems.

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and engineering scheduling tools and applications. Ability to utilize the Internet for information gathering and communication.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, including clear and concise technical writing and the ability to coordinate tactfully with diverse stakeholders, peers, and management levels.

Possession of basic knowledge across multiple disciplines concerning the general requirements for typical FAA electrical and electronics systems.
