Longbow Crew Trainer (LCT) Instructor Operator - Houston, TX
Leidos Airborne Solutions (AirS) Division is seeking a Longbow Crew Trainer (LCT) Instructor Operator to support the Army National Guard (ANG) Aviation Training Services and Operational Support (ATSOS) program in Houston, TX. This role is crucial for enhancing Army National Guard aviation readiness through expert flight and simulation training.
About the Role
As a Simulator Instructor Operator (I/O), you will deliver high-quality instruction across base and mission tasks using various simulation systems, including the UH‑72A Cockpit Procedure Trainer (CPT), UH‑72A Synthetic Flight Training System (SFTS), Advanced Blackhawk Flight Simulator (ABHFS), UH‑60A/L SFTS, CH‑47F Transportable Flight Proficiency Simulator (TFPS), and UH‑60V/M Blackhawk Aviation Trainer (BAT). Responsibilities include supporting APART academic evaluations, developing mission scenarios, conducting instrument training, and facilitating crew coordination and collective training.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate assigned simulator devices to train all crewmember tasks as outlined in the applicable Aircraft Training Manual (ATM).
- Present flight records and qualifications to the Battalion/AASF/Facility Standardization Instructor Pilot.
- Provide I/O services to support multiple two-hour training periods per day per simulator device.
- Support administrative duties related to scheduled simulator periods.
- Complete Government-administered check rides to certify proficiency in unit SOPs, tactics, and standards.
- Deliver training within AR 95‑1 and ATM requirements.
- Capture training data through the Instructor Operator Station (IOS) and contribute to After-Action Reviews (AARs).
- Document pilot simulator hours on DA Form 2408‑12 and transcribe into the device logbook.
- Report weekly device utilization metrics to the Quality Assurance Representative (QAR).
- Serve as a RFMSS Fire Desk Operator, managing simulator period scheduling and closing out training days.
- Utilize the Instructor/Operator Manual (IOM) and associated reference materials for daily operations, reporting any required updates.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma with 8 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 4 years of experience.
- Qualification as an Instructor Pilot in the respective aircraft simulator and as an Instrument Flight Examiner, or a minimum of 3 years of documented experience as an Aviation Simulator I/O in the required device.
- Prior Army Aviation or military-equivalent training or operational experience.
- USAACE/AATS‑qualified Instructor Pilot in the applicable airframe, or at least 3 years of I/O experience in the assigned device.
- Instructor Training Course (ITC) or ABIC qualification, or ability to complete an AATS‑provided ABIC course within 12 months of hire.
- Meet instructor qualification requirements as defined by the Aviation Proponent and in accordance with TR 350‑10 and TR 350‑70.
- Qualified as a unit trainer, instructor pilot, or maintenance test flight examiner with demonstrated simulator operations experience.
- USAACE‑qualified Instrument Flight Examiner.
- Ability to complete unit aircrew training within 3 months of hire if not already an instructor pilot, per AR 95‑1 and FR 350‑1.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation or security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
