Leidos is seeking a dynamic Instructor to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team. This individual will support the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Eastern Service Area (ESA) NISC support team, providing outstanding customer service to FAA customers. The role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the NISC IV mission by delivering technical instruction to new hire Electronics personnel, equipping them with the skills required for fiber optics projects. This is a remote position with required travel to Lakeland, FL, or other locations as needed to conduct classes.
The Instructor will provide in-person classroom instruction using lectures, demonstrations, laboratory exercises, and handouts, as well as responding to questions and conducting tests. The courses will be delivered during both day and potentially evening hours. They will assist students in developing the fundamental skills necessary to serve as entry-level fiber optic cable installers or technicians. The instructor will teach the fundamental principles of fiber optic technology, encompassing fiber types, splicing techniques, network design, safety protocols, and the use of specialized tools for connecting and activating fiber optic networks. They will also teach electronic and fiber optic safety, including PPE, cable handling, proper handling of chemicals, cleaners, and adhesives, and adherence to industry standards, ensuring proper training to avoid injury and damage.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and 8 years or 12 years of working knowledge of FAA electrical and electronics systems. They must have a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, engineering scheduling tools, and the Internet for research and communication. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear technical writing and the ability to coordinate with stakeholders, peers, and management, are essential. A basic knowledge of multiple disciplines regarding their general requirements for typical FAA electrical and electronics systems is also necessary.
This position has an anticipated pay range of $80,600.00 - $145,700.00, although the exact salary will be determined based on responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, market data, and applicable agreements.
