Leidos is seeking a dynamic Instructor to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team. This role supports the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Eastern Service Area (ESA) NISC, providing exceptional customer service to FAA clients utilizing NISC services. The Instructor will deliver technical instruction to new Electronics personnel, equipping them with the skills necessary for fiber optics projects within Engineering Services.
This is a remote position, allowing the candidate to be located anywhere in the U.S., with required travel to Lakeland, FL, or other locations to conduct in-person classes. The Instructor will provide classroom instruction through lectures, demonstrations, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to student questions, and administering tests. Instruction will include both day and potentially evening classes.
The Instructor will assist students in acquiring the foundational skills needed to become entry-level fiber optic cable installers or technicians. This includes teaching the fundamental principles of fiber optic technology, covering fiber types, splicing techniques, network design, safety protocols, and the use of specialized tools for connecting and activating fiber optic networks. Instruction also involves electronic and fiber optic safety protocols, encompassing PPE, cable handling, proper use of chemicals, cleaners, adhesives, and adherence to industry standards to prevent injury and damage.
A Bachelor's degree and either 8 years of experience with FAA electrical and electronics systems or 12 years of working knowledge in the field is required. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, engineering scheduling tools and applications, and internet usage for information gathering and communication. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including clear technical writing and tactful coordination with various stakeholders are essential. The candidate should possess a basic knowledge of multiple disciplines related to FAA electrical and electronics systems.
The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $125,000. The job requisition is anticipated to remain open for at least 3 days from the original posting date of 2025-01-10. The overall Leidos pay range for this job level is $80,600.00 – $145,700.00. Compensation is determined by factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, market data, applicable bargaining agreements, and other legal requirements.
