Leidos is seeking a highly motivated Instructor to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team. This position supports the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Eastern Service Area (ESA) NISC team, focusing on providing exceptional customer service to FAA personnel receiving NISC services. The Instructor will deliver technical instruction to new electronics personnel, equipping them with the skills necessary for fiber optics projects within Engineering Services. This is a remote position, with travel required to Lakeland, FL, or other locations as needed for teaching classes.
The Instructor's responsibilities include providing classroom instruction through lectures, demonstrations, laboratory exercises, and handouts, as well as answering questions and administering tests. The role includes teaching both day and potentially evening courses in person. This professional will assist students in developing fundamental skills for entry-level fiber optic cable installation or technician roles. The curriculum covers core principles of fiber optic technology, including different fiber types, splicing techniques, network design, safety protocols, and the use of specialized tools for connecting and activating fiber optic networks. The Instructor will also teach electronic and fiber optic safety, covering PPE, cable handling, proper chemical handling, and adherence to industry standards to prevent injury and damage.
To be considered, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and either eight years of experience or twelve years of working knowledge within FAA electrical and electronics systems. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and engineering scheduling tools, as well as utilizing the Internet for research and communication. Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to produce clear technical writing and collaborate effectively with stakeholders, peers, and management. A basic understanding of the general requirements of multiple disciplines within typical FAA electrical and electronics systems is also required.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,600.00 to $145,700.00, with the possibility of adjustment based on factors including experience, education, and skills.
