Your Role and Responsibilities

Leidos is seeking highly skilled and mission-focused individuals to join its passionate team as Aviation Training Captains and Simulator Instructors. In this role, incumbents will command and deliver comprehensive flight crew training on a highly modified Dash 8 aircraft, equipped with state-of-the-art surveillance technology.

As a Captain with the surveillance team, the successful candidate will provide essential leadership and support to the crew, ensuring each mission is executed diligently, efficiently, and professionally. Members of the training and checking team will play a critical role in the professional development of Dash 8 pilots, conducting training and checking activities both in the aircraft and via simulators. This vital role offers significant job satisfaction and excellent opportunities for career progression as an instructor. Comprehensive training will be provided to support the attainment of additional instructor and examiner qualifications.

Flexible Work Options

  • Training Captains: Opportunities available in Cairns, Darwin, Broome, or via a 14-on/14-off FIFO roster from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, or Sydney.
  • Simulator Instructors: Positions based in Melbourne or Brisbane.

What You Will Bring to Make an Impact

  • Australian Citizenship with a current passport.
  • Valid CASA Class 1 Aviation Medical.
  • Australian ATPL(A).
  • Minimum 1000 hours Pilot-In-Command (PIC) in multi-crew operations on type-rated aeroplanes.
  • Australian Flight or Simulator Instructor Rating.
  • For simulator roles: Type rating training activity endorsement on any multi-crew type-rated aircraft.
  • Eligibility for an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC) and Australian government security clearances.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Training Captains Salary: From $212,961 annually.
  • Simulator Instructors Salary: From $250,503 annually.
  • Salary Progression: A 6% increase is scheduled for 2026, followed by 2% annual increments.
  • Additional attractive location incentives, travel, and overtime allowances are applicable.
