Requirements

Survey Pilot / Sensor Operator Opening

This is a hybrid position. Applicants would be expected to act in both capacities as required by staff and project availability.

Working Conditions:

* Overnight travel required (up to six consecutive weeks), including weekends, on call work, weather dependent.

* There is a risk of health or safety hazards and accidents, including exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, noise and vibration, as well as exposure to extreme heat, cold, and various weather conditions.

* Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift and carry survey gear weighing up to 20 pounds.

Minimum Requirements

– Must be willing to relocate to Truro, NS
– Must have valid Canadian passport

– Must be able to work in foreign countries
* Minimum of 250 hours total time

* Must hold Transport Canada Commercial Pilot License. Group 1 instrument rating would be considered an asset

* Previous experience on Cessna 206 or PA31 would be considered an asset

* Must have reliable transportation

* Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract

Survey Pilot Duties

* Operate Leading Edge aircrafts as required by the COM for survey operations and any other required operations.

* Executing test flight as required to examine their flight performance and safety.
* Perform post-flight inspections, record equipment malfunctions and corrective actions taken during flight and report required repairs to ground maintenance personnel.

Sensor Operation Duties

* The overall goal is to collect the highest quality, most complete and accurate Sensor data at all times; ensuring client expectations are consistently met and/or exceeded.

* Ensuring sensors are prepared and working before each mission, cleaning lenses, and ensuring cable connections are checked and ground power start, as well as effectively monitoring sensor parameters through mission software and ensuring project specs are met.

* Being familiar with mission software, sensors, and associated hardware to ensure that projects are properly setup and configured with the appropriate settings to ensure accuracy, as well as understand errors in order to properly troubleshoot them in a timely and efficient manner

* Data management, including taking comprehensive, detailed, and accurate field notes and records about all procedures used and logging this data into QuickBase, as well as following company procedures to copy and archive data at all times. This also includes identifying potential sources of error and making recommendations to prevent them in the future.
