Assistant Chief Flight Instructor - LIFT Academy Galveston
LIFT Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Chief Flight Instructor to join their team in Galveston, TX. This is a full-time, corporate position offering the opportunity to shape the next generation of aviators.
About the Role:
The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor plays a crucial role in the success of LIFT Academy's flight training program. Reporting to the Chief Flight Instructor, this individual will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of Part 141 ground and flight instructors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct stage checks, end-of-course checks, and provide ground instruction adhering to Part 61 and 141 FAA regulations, AIM guidelines, and LIFT Academy policies and procedures.
- Provide prospective students with facility tours and comprehensive overviews of LIFT Academy's policies, procedures, and flight training courses.
- Maintain meticulous records of student progress, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Oversee student enrollments and graduations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Conduct audits of student records to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor the maintenance status of training aircraft, promptly reporting any issues to LIFT maintenance personnel.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by recommending and developing curriculum and courseware enhancements.
- Participate actively in administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings.
- Lead and manage a team of flight instructors, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
- Spearhead the recruitment process for potential flight instructors, including screening, interviewing, and making hiring recommendations.
- Provide comprehensive coaching, leadership, and supervision to direct reports, ensuring ongoing professional development.
- Conduct performance appraisals, deliver constructive feedback, and implement corrective actions to enhance individual and team performance.
Qualifications:
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor ratings: Airplane Single Engine Land, Airplane Multi-Engine Land, Instrument.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a flight instructor and 500 flight hours.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Meet the minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate.
- Fulfill the current FAA and company hiring minimum age and flight hour requirements.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of all authorized curriculums.
- Demonstrated ability to apply effective instructional techniques in both classroom and flight environments.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in classroom instruction.
- Proficient in aircraft piloting skills, including familiarity with and ability to perform required flight maneuvers and procedures.
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant Federal Aviation Regulations, administrative procedures, and operational requirements.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- G1000 experience.
- Part 141 experience.
- Check instructor experience.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to pass initial and ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
- Successful completion of a Federal background check.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adaptable to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time, including overnight and weekend trips.
