Job Summary
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a highly experienced Lead, Flight Operations – RC-135 Pilot to join its distinguished team in Greenville, Texas, supporting critical U.S. Air Force operations. This pivotal role involves conducting and supporting comprehensive ground and flight test activities for all assigned mission equipment, including developmental, functional, structural, and system modifications on the RC-135 and its variants. The successful candidate will ensure crewmember operational readiness through rigorous training, standardization, and evaluation programs. This position requires a dedicated professional to develop operational plans and policies, monitor activities, and provide expert advice to the Director of Operations, contributing significantly to flight operations and tasked programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and support ground and flight test activities for RC-135 and variant aircraft.
- Perform Functional Check Flights (FCFs) to validate aircraft performance and modifications.
- Execute mission planning for all flight-related activities.
- Lead flight test operations and flight crews as either command or co-pilot.
- Provide flight and mission instruction and conduct evaluations as required.
- Serve as a Mission Monitor when necessary.
- Support local flight operations, including flight scheduling for various programs.
- Maintain ownership and upkeep of Center Ops Online (COOL) training records.
- Oversee the aircrew Standardization and Evaluation (STAN/EVAL) program.
- Demonstrate willingness and ability to work varied shifts and weekends to meet operational demands.
- Be worldwide deployable, with an estimated travel requirement of up to 30%.
Qualifications
- Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience, OR a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum 13 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree) will also be considered.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as an RC-135 pilot.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an instructor pilot.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an RC-135 Instructor and FCF Pilot.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an RC-135 Evaluator and Command Pilot.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with depot-level flight testing, FCFs, and aircraft modifications.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Air Force Standardization and Evaluation processes.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to pass and maintain an FAA Class II Flight Physical.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs occasionally (up to 5% of the time).
- Ability to ascend/descend ladders occasionally (up to 5% of the time).
Preferred Additional Skills
- Familiarity with U.S. Air Force flight instructions, operational processes, and COOL.
- Minimum of 1500 flying hours on the RC-135 aircraft.
