Chief Instructor Pilot

L3Harris Technologies seeks a highly motivated and experienced Chief Instructor Pilot (CIP) to lead its flight training program. This program supports the esteemed pilots of the United States Air Force as well as other critical programs. The ideal candidate embodies the highest standards of aviation expertise, safety consciousness, and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive flight training and guidance to a diverse student body, including USAF transition and undergraduate pilots and combat systems officers.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the organization's flight training program, ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance (DCMA 8210.1D).
- Deliver engaging and effective classroom instruction on aviation theory and best practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the flight training program.
- Maintain a high level of proficiency across all aircraft platforms.
- Perform contract evaluator duties as required.
- Other duties as assigned, often requiring work schedule flexibility and extended hours.
Qualifications:
General:
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- US Citizenship.
- Valid State Driver's License.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, OR
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience, OR
- Minimum of 16 years of prior related experience and 10 years of prior relevant experience (in lieu of a degree).
FAA Requirements:
- FAA Commercial Single Engine Land, Instrument Airplane certification.
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument Certificate (Single Engine Land) or military equivalent (current).
Flight Time Requirements:
- Minimum of 3,000* hours of total documented flight time.
- Minimum of 1,500 hours of total fixed-wing Pilot in Command time.
*When evaluating flight time, consideration will be given to quality, quantity, recent experience, and verifiability of training; complexity of aircraft flown; types of flight operations; and hours flown as Pilot in Command in turbine-powered aircraft. Applicants invited to interview must provide documentation of all flight hours.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience as a Department of Defense Flight Instructor/Evaluator.
- Air to Ground ordnance delivery and/or Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) flight experience (AT-802F aerial tanker experience may be considered).
- FAA Second Class Medical certificate (required prior to offer of employment).
- Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance (or the ability to obtain and maintain).
Preferred Qualifications:
- FAA Tailwheel Endorsement.
- FAA Night Vision Goggles (NVG) Instructor Endorsement.
- Minimum of 300 hours of AT-802 series experience.
- AT-802 Factory Authorized Instructor Pilot certification.
Special Consideration:
Military trained aviators with less than the minimum required flight hours may be given special consideration.
