Role Description:
The Flight Operations team is to provide Kimball International with safe, efficient, and flexible air transportation to meet the Company’s business needs.

Expectations to Perform This Role:
Fly the aircraft following pre-established routes and patterns. Maneuver the aircraft at optimum altitude and speed. Give instructions to the crew on board and coordinate with them the takeoff and landing procedures with the crew. Ensure, together with the flight crew, that all flights are carried out in a safe and timely manner to their destination in accordance with all relevant regulations. Monitor the operation of the engines, fuel consumption and other systems during the flight.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing pre- and post-flight inspections of fuel, equipment, and navigational systems.
  • Conduct preflight planning procedures.
  • Operating the aircraft safely and always maintaining a good degree of professionalism.
  • Monitoring weather and other variables that could affect a flight well in advance.
  • Continued education and flight training as required.
  • Maintain a positive, crew concept at all times.
  • Communicate professionally with passengers.

Skills to Perform This Role:

  • Flexibility. A pilot must have a great theoretical knowledge of his profession and keep up to date. At the same time, reality is changing and the pilot must have the ability to apply his knowledge and adapt his responses to the real situation that arises.
  • Decision making. This is one of the most outstanding skills of a pilot, and many times these decisions are vital and must be made in a very short time.
  • Resilience. It is the ability to work correctly (manage the flight) despite adverse situations that may affect emotionally.
  • Communication. It is very important for a pilot to be able to understand others and be able to make himself understood, obtaining favorable responses for the proper development of the flight operation.
  • Adaptation to technology. Technological advances are increasing, and aviation is a clear example of this. A pilot must have this ability to adapt to new instruments, procedures, and aircraft.
  • Learnability. The ability to absorb new information easily and put it into practice effectively

Technical Skills:

  • Attend aircraft specific pilot recurrent training.
  • Remain updated on current industry topics thru self-study.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong communication skills and safety-first attitude.

Leadership Skills:

  • Excellent leadership skills, situational awareness, and professionalism.
