Senior Flight Instructor

Kansas State University is seeking experienced Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs) to join the growing team of aviation flight professionals at its Aerospace and Technology Campus in Salina. This position is integral to providing high-quality flight training to students pursuing private pilot, instrument pilot, and commercial pilot certifications.

About the Role:

A Senior Flight Instructor performs comprehensive flight training, diligently tracking and ensuring consistent student progress. Responsibilities include conducting introductory flights and supporting student learning through study hall sessions. The instructor plays a key role in maintaining the university's standard of aviation education and safety.

Worksite:

This is an on-site position located at the employer's premises or designated assignment location in Salina, Kansas.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience as a Certified Flight Instructor.
• Must possess a valid Certified Flight Instructor Certificate upon employment.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree.
• Significant CFI experience, including 500+ hours of dual instruction and recommending 7+ students for FAA check rides with a high first-attempt pass rate (80% or better).
• Hold Commercial Pilot privileges for single-engine (SE) and multi-engine (ME) aircraft.
• Possess additional ratings and/or endorsements, such as Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument (CFII), high performance, complex aircraft, or others.
• Demonstrated ability in detailed documentation of training records.
• Strong commitment to aviation safety practices, procedures, and culture.

Compensation:

The anticipated hiring pay range is $40,000 - $48,000 annually. Salary offers are commensurate with experience and education.
