First Officer

Department: Flight Operations

Reports To: Chief Pilot

Position Purpose

The First Officer is responsible for safely assisting the Captain and crew, utilizing Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles, to operate the aircraft in accordance with all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preflight inspections of the aircraft and freight.
  • Assist the crew with required paperwork.
  • Operate the aircraft with precise attention to policy, regulations, and procedures.
  • Identify and report any unsafe conditions, whether on the ground or in-flight.
  • Perform post-flight inspections of the aircraft.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; post-secondary education preferred.
  • Previous FAR 121 experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • FAA Multi-Engine Airline Transport Certificate or Restricted Multi-Engine Airline Pilot Certificate.
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours of total flight time; 2,000+ hours preferred.
  • For military applicants: Total time under 2,000 hours with flexible requirements for Turbine and PIC time.
  • 1,500 hours of turbine (jet) flight time preferred.
  • 1,000 hours of PIC turbine (jet) flight time preferred.
  • Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • FCC Radio License.
  • No restrictions on international travel.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to pass a 10-year security background check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

Language Skills

Candidates must possess the ability to read, write, and understand spoken and written English, and demonstrate the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to walk up or down stairs.
  • Ability to work in a confined area for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Work Environment

The employee will perform duties both inside and outside of the cockpit in a wide variety of meteorological conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
