KLM Royal Dutch Airlines invites applications from exceptional aviators for the role of First Officer. Minimum Requirements for First Officer Candidates
Applicants must demonstrate a robust history of professional flight experience and possess the following mandatory qualifications:
Flight Experience and Recency
- Total Multi-Engine Time: A minimum of 1,000 hours is required.
- Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Time: A minimum of 100 hours is required.
- Commercial Recency: The applicant must have logged at least 150 hours in commercial aviation within the 12 months immediately preceding the application date, or hold current experience as a military pilot.
- Heavy Aircraft Experience: A minimum of 1,000 hours must have been accumulated on a multi-engine aircraft with a Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) exceeding 5,700 KG. This time must not have been flown in the capacity of a cruise relief co-pilot. Alternatively, military pilot experience is accepted.
- Type Rating Status: While a current type rating is not mandatory (training is provided), the candidate must hold a valid type rating for a multi-pilot aeroplane (MPA).
Licensing and Regulatory Requirements
- License Authority: Applicants must hold a valid European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) license.
- License Requirements: Possession of a valid Frozen Air Transport Pilot License (ATPL), Instrument Rating (IR), Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) certificate, Multi-Engine (ME) rating, and Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) certificate.
- Medical Certification: A valid EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate is mandatory.
- English Language Proficiency (ELP): Applicants must possess ICAO ELP Level 6.
- Navigation and Safety Training: Mandatory training completed in Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) and Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT).
- Radiotelephony (RT) License: A valid Radiotelephony license must be held.
General and Administrative Requirements
- Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a senior general secondary education diploma, or an equivalent foreign qualification, which includes English, mathematics, and physics in the curriculum.
- Language Proficiency: Candidates must possess a good knowledge of the Dutch language. Non-Dutch speaking applicants are required to have successfully passed an exam demonstrating B2 level proficiency (European Framework of Reference) prior to commencing the selection procedure.
- Background Check: Applicants must maintain a clear criminal record and provide confirmation of no history of aviation incidents or accidents.
- Travel Documentation: A valid passport is required, and the applicant must have no existing restrictions on international travel.
- Visa/Work Permit: KLM does not offer visa sponsorship for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have completed training through one of the following recognized flight training organizations: KFA, NLS, CAE, EPST, or MFA. Alternatively, candidates in possession of a Military Pilot License (MPL-A) issued by the Royal Netherlands Air Force or Navy are strongly encouraged to apply.
