Flight Instructor - Joby Aviation Academy
Joby Aviation, a leading innovator in electric air transportation, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) to join our Joby Aviation Academy team in Watsonville, California. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position with immediate start date, contingent upon availability.
Job Overview:
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering flight training programs for Joby Aviation employees and the public. This will involve providing comprehensive instruction in our Van's RV12 aircraft, including pre-flight planning, ground and flight lessons, post-flight debriefings, and other related activities. The position will also contribute to the establishment of a comprehensive Part 141 academy, focused on nurturing the next generation of Joby pilots.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality flight instruction in accordance with established company and FAA procedures.
- Actively participate in internal flight safety and standardization discussions, contributing to a culture of excellence.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required documentation.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Prioritize safety in all aspects of work, adhering to established procedures and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) with Airplane rating.
- Demonstrated passion for inspiring and guiding aspiring aviators.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, fostering a positive and collaborative learning environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and extended shifts.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Certified Flight Instrument Instructor (CFII) rating.
- Experience instructing in a Part 141 training school.
- Over 250 hours of dual given instruction.
- Expertise in developing aviation courseware.
- Multi-engine pilot certificate.
- Current experience in the Van's RV12 or other Light Sport Airplanes (LSA).
Compensation and Benefits:
The company offers a competitive compensation package, including:
- An hourly Billable Instruction Rate of $45 for all hours spent providing instruction to one or more students.
- An hourly Administrative Rate of $20 for all required work duties not categorized as Billable Instruction.
