Co-Pilot Job Description - Etihad Airways
This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the safe and efficient operation of Etihad Airways' fleet. As a Co-Pilot, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of the aircraft, passengers, and cargo, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and service.
Responsibilities:
- Safety and Security: Maintain the safety and security of the aircraft and passengers, acting as the primary authority in the absence of the Commander.
- Operational Proficiency: Remain familiar with Etihad's Operations Manual and procedures, ensuring all actions are performed professionally and safely.
- Commander Support: Assist the Commander with administrative tasks related to the flight and contribute to maintaining a high standard of crew discipline, conduct, and appearance.
- Flight Operations: Execute flight duties assigned by the Commander, adhering to Etihad's operating policies and procedures.
- Navigation and Monitoring: Ensure the safe navigation of the aircraft, maintaining a continuous and independent check on the geographical position, terrain clearance, and weather conditions.
- Flight Plan Adherence: Conduct the flight in accordance with the current flight plan, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the Commander's instructions when the Commander is not at the controls. Promptly notify the Commander of any changes to the flight plan, Air Traffic Control (ATC) instructions, or geographical position upon their return.
- Commander Support and Advice: Provide timely and accurate advice, information, and assistance to the Commander to support the safe and efficient conduct of the flight.
- Etihad Representation: Maintain a high personal standard of discipline, conduct, and appearance as a representative of Etihad Airways at all times.
- Command Responsibility: In the event of Commander incapacitation, the highest-ranking Co-Pilot assigned to the flight shall assume command.
Qualifications:
- Flight Experience: Minimum of 2500 hours total flying time.
- Multi-Crew Experience: Minimum of 1500 hours on multi-crew, glass cockpit (1) or high-performance military jet.
- Aircraft Type Experience: Minimum of 1000 hours on one of the following aircraft: A330, A340, A350, or A380.
- Type Rating: Valid type rating on any Airbus FBW for a minimum of 2 months at the time of joining.
- Licenses: Current and unrestricted ICAO ATPL. Frozen ATPL is only accepted for UAE citizens.
- Recent Experience: Flight experience on any Airbus FBW within the last 12 months.
- Medical Certification: Current and unrestricted Class 1 medical certificate.
- Age Limit: Maximum age limit of 50 years old.
- Language Proficiency: English language fluency (written and verbal) at Level 4 or better.
- Inflight Relief: 75% of total hours accumulated on flights with inflight relief will be counted towards required minimums.
(1) Glass Cockpit: aircraft with a Flight Management System (FMS) coupled to an Automatic Pilot Flight Director System (APFDS).
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary: Fixed pay of AED 26,000 per month.
- Flight Duty Allowance:
- 1-6 years of service: AED 40 per block hour
- 7-10 years of service: AED 56 per block hour
- Meal Allowance: Provided during layovers at the following rates:
- Middle East/ GCC/ Subcontinent: AED 12 per hour
- Asia/ Far East: AED 15 per hour
- Africa/ Australasia: AED 18 per hour
- Europe/ Americas: AED 23 per hour
- Housing Allowance: Up to AED 160,000 per year.
- Education Allowance: AED 40,000 for primary and AED 55,000 for secondary education for up to 3 children.
