Position Summary
Jet Aviation is seeking an exceptional and highly experienced Gulfstream IV-SP Captain to serve as Pilot in Command based in Austin, TX. This pivotal role involves the safe, secure, and efficient conduct of all assigned flight operations, with the Captain maintaining ultimate authority for the safety of the flight. The successful candidate will report to the Lead Captain, ensuring full compliance with company operating policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The Captain, Gulfstream IV-SP, is entrusted with a comprehensive range of duties critical to flight operations, including but not limited to:
- Exercising ultimate authority for the safe operation of the aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and making informed decisions to cancel flights based on prevailing weather or other conditions.
- Ensuring meticulous adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures throughout every flight.
- Implementing necessary adjustments to flight plans and operations in response to en route conditions, always maintaining compliance with appropriate company guidelines.
- Conducting flights with the highest standards of safety and prudence, aligned with industry best practices and company protocols.
- Accurately completing all required trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Fostering clear and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of flight.
- Promptly recording all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately reporting these to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or their designee. Utilizing the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) as directed by the DOM to determine if inoperative items can be deferred or require immediate repair.
- Verifying that all flight crew members report for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically prepared for their responsibilities.
- Maintaining a thorough working knowledge of all aircraft systems for the aircraft authorized to operate, including all emergency systems and procedures.
- Securing the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage when deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtaining the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from a FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- Filing or ensuring the filing of flight plans with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyzing area, en route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Performing the functions of the In-Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of applicable standard security programs.
- Conducting the required passenger safety briefings or assigning that duty to the Second in Command.
- Imparting knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them for potential Pilot in Command duties during emergencies or future upgrades on that aircraft.
- Completing and transmitting the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Completing and transmitting the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Taking an active role in supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Making an immediate report of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegating duties while retaining full responsibility for their execution.
- Representing Jet Aviation professionally, both internally and externally, with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
- Performing other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must possess an exemplary record and meet the following stringent qualifications:
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with the appropriate Gulfstream IV-SP Type Rating.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- A minimum of 4,000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- A minimum of 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours Turbine flight time.
- A minimum of 100 hours Night flight time.
- A minimum of 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional aviation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively, without restrictions.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
The role requires the ability to operate effectively in diverse settings, ranging from heavy maintenance environments to upscale customer areas. The work environment typically features moderate noise levels, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals and departures. Employees will frequently be exposed to vibration and may occasionally encounter fuel fumes. This position necessitates working in all types of weather conditions, and the hangar environment may experience extreme temperatures during different seasons.
Candidates must be capable of using hands and fingers for handling, feeling, or reaching; frequently standing, walking, or sitting; and occasionally climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above the head, is required. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this Captain position is between $230,000 and $240,000. Please note that this range is not a guarantee of compensation; actual salary will be determined based on experience, geographic location, and other pertinent requirements.
