Position Summary

Jet Aviation is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Captain to serve as Pilot in Command (PIC) for its Gulfstream IV-SP aircraft, based in Austin, Texas. This critical role demands an aviation professional who is solely responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient execution of all assigned flight operations. The Captain will uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, exercising ultimate authority for the safe conduct of the flight. This position reports to the Lead Captain regarding company operating policies and procedures and requires extensive, unrestricted worldwide travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume full Pilot in Command authority, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Gulfstream IV-SP aircraft for all assigned flights.
  • Conduct flights in strict compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures, including adherence to industry and company safety standards.
  • Determine safe departure times, optimal routes, and, when necessary, cancel flights based on thorough evaluation of prevailing weather and other operational conditions.
  • Implement necessary in-flight adjustments as required by en-route conditions, always adhering to company policies and procedures to ensure continued flight safety.
  • Accurately complete all required trip paperwork in accordance with current operational procedures.
  • Foster a comprehensive and clear understanding of all flight aspects with the Second in Command (SIC), providing mentorship and training to prepare them for potential PIC duties or future upgrades.
  • Meticulously record all aircraft discrepancies in the aircraft discrepancy log as they occur, reporting them immediately to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or their designee. Utilize the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) to determine deferment or repair requirements as directed.
  • Ensure the entire flight crew reports for duty in appropriate attire, fully mentally and physically fit for their assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain an exhaustive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and associated procedures, for all aircraft authorized to operate.
  • Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging for hangar storage as deemed necessary or as instructed by company management.
  • Obtain the most current and relevant weather reports, forecasts, and Notice to Air Missions (NOTAMs) from authorized agencies.
  • File or ensure the filing of flight plans with the FAA or appropriate ICAO state Air Traffic Control (ATC) facilities.
  • Thoroughly analyze area, en-route, and terminal charts for intended landing airports and designated alternates.
  • Perform duties as the In-Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) in accordance with the applicable 12.5 Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program.
  • Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate this duty to the Second in Command.
  • Complete and submit leg manifests to operations control prior to each departure.
  • Submit End of Day (EOD) reports to operations control upon the conclusion of each flight day.
  • Actively support the open sharing of information regarding all safety issues, promptly reporting any safety hazards or concerns.
  • Immediately report any hazardous actions, conduct, or events to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
  • Represent Jet Aviation as a unified entity, engaging effectively with internal teams, industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
  • Execute other duties as required to support flight operations and company objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating (e.g., Gulfstream IV-SP).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum of 4,000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
  • Minimum of 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight time.
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours Turbojet (or Turbine) flight time.
  • Minimum of 100 hours Night flight time.
  • Minimum of 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional aviation experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexible schedules, including irregular hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively, without any restrictions.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
