Position Summary: Pilot in Command

The Pilot in Command is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of all assigned flight operations, reporting to the Lead Captain regarding company policies and procedures. This critical role emphasizes safety, security, and quality above all else. The Pilot in Command holds ultimate authority for the safe operation of all flights to which they are assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
  • Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • 3,500 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
  • 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
  • 1,500 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
  • 1,500 hours Turbojet flight time.
  • 500 hours Turbine flight time.
  • 100 hours Night flight time.
  • 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
  • Minimum of 5 years of aviation experience.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restriction.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Main Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the aircraft, determining departure times, routes, and flight cancellations based on weather or other conditions.
  • Ensure all flights are conducted in strict compliance with federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement necessary adjustments to en route conditions to maintain flight continuity under company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct all flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all trip paperwork.
  • Maintain a clear and thorough understanding of all flight aspects with the Second in Command.
  • Accurately document aircraft discrepancies, reporting them immediately to the Director of Maintenance or their designee. Determine deferral or repair requirements based on the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL).
  • Verify that flight crew members report for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all authorized aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
  • Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging for hangar storage as necessary or instructed.
  • Obtain the latest weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies.
  • File flight plans with the FAA or ICAO air traffic control facilities.
  • Analyze en route and terminal charts for intended landing airports and alternates.
  • Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) as applicable.
  • Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate this duty to the Second in Command.
  • Mentor and train the Second in Command to prepare them for emergency situations or future Pilot in Command responsibilities.
  • Transmit the leg manifest to Operations Control prior to each departure.
  • Submit the End of Day (EOD) report to Operations Control upon completion of each flight day.
  • Actively support open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
  • Immediately report any hazardous actions, conduct, or events to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
  • The Pilot in Command may delegate duties but not the ultimate responsibility for those duties.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Represent Jet Aviation professionally both internally and externally, including with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands

Employees performing the essential functions of this job may be required to use hands and fingers for handling, feeling, or reaching. Frequent standing, walking, or sitting is expected. Occasional kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, or balancing may be necessary. Employees must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Work Environment

This role requires the ability to work in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer areas. The work environment typically features moderate noise levels, with occasional high volumes during aircraft arrivals and departures. Employees may be exposed to vibration and occasional fuel fumes. The position requires adaptability to all weather conditions. Hangar environments can experience extreme temperatures depending on the season.

Compensation Data

The anticipated salary range for this position is $300,000 to $320,000 annually. This range is indicative and not a guarantee of specific compensation. Salary will be determined based on factors including experience, geographic location, and other qualifications.
