Pilot in Command - Aviation

Position Summary
The Pilot in Command reports to the Lead Captain regarding company operating policies and procedures. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of all flight assignments, with a primary emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The Pilot in Command exercises ultimate authority for the safe conduct of all assigned flights.
Minimum Requirements
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical.
- 4,000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1,500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- 1,500 hours Turbine flight time.
- 100 hours Night flight time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules.
- Willing and able to travel worldwide extensively, without restrictions.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and cancel flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure all flights are conducted in complete compliance with federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Institute necessary changes as required by en route conditions to ensure flight continuation under appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct all flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensure thorough understanding with the second in command regarding all aspects of flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and report them immediately to the Director of Maintenance or their designee. Determine if the inoperative item can be deferred or requires repair, referencing the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and directives from management.
- Verify that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all authorized aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File, or cause to be filed, a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state Air Traffic Control facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In-Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve-Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or assign this duty to the second in command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the second in command to prepare them for assuming Pilot in Command duties in an emergency or during upgrades.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Make an immediate report of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- May delegate duties, but not the responsibility for those duties.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employees must be able to work in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer areas. Noise levels are typically moderate, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals/departures. Employees are frequently exposed to vibration and occasional fuel fumes. Work in all weather conditions is required. The hangar environment may experience extreme hot and cold temperatures during certain seasons.
