Position Summary

Jet Aviation invites experienced aviation leaders to take command of their career at 40,000 feet. The Lead Captain for the Gulfstream 550 (G550) is entrusted with the ultimate responsibility for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of all assigned flight assignments. The Lead Captain serves formally as the Pilot in Command (PIC), ensuring the absolute highest standards of safety, security, and quality are consistently maintained. The incumbent plays a pivotal role in developing crew members, fostering a robust culture of operational excellence, and representing Jet Aviation's distinguished brand. This position requires true airmanship in an environment where discretion, adaptability, and decisive leadership are paramount to elevating the overall travel experience.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following core duties:

  • Operational Command: Ensures the safe and efficient operation of all assigned flights, including comprehensive pre-flight and post-flight inspections, rigorous flight plan filing, and meticulous analysis of weather and route conditions for informed decision-making.
  • Crew Leadership & Development: Mentors and guides crew members to foster professional growth, conducts objective performance reviews, and coordinates crew scheduling and training to maintain seamless operational readiness.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Champions a strong safety culture by strictly adhering to industry best practices, conducting detailed passenger briefings, and collaborating promptly with maintenance teams to address aircraft discrepancies.
  • Administrative Excellence: Manages all necessary trip documentation, maintains comprehensive aircraft manuals, assists in crew hiring processes, and consistently represents Jet Aviation with utmost professionalism in all internal and external interactions.
  • Brand Representation: Serves as a trusted Brand Ambassador for Jet Aviation, showcasing the organization's dedication to delivering exceptional service and operational reliability.

Minimum Requirements

Jet Aviation seeks aviation professionals prepared to lead and excel in a dynamic and demanding environment:

  • Expert Credentials: Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) and a current FAA First Class Medical certificate.
  • Proven Flight Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of aviation experience is required, totaling 3,500 hours of fixed-wing time. This must include 1,500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC), 1,500 hours of multi-engine time, 500 hours of turbojet time, 500 hours of turbine time, 100 hours of night flying, and 75 hours of Simulated Instrument time.
  • Operational Flexibility: Must demonstrate the ability to work a variable schedule to effectively meet complex flight mission profiles.
  • Global Readiness: Requires a willingness to travel extensively worldwide without restriction.
  • Required Education and Licensing: High school diploma and a valid driver’s license are mandatory.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The Lead Captain navigates diverse operational settings, ranging from heavy maintenance areas to upscale customer spaces. The role involves adapting to the dynamic atmosphere of aircraft arrivals and departures, which includes occasional exposure to high noise levels, vibrations, fuel fumes, and seasonal temperature extremes in hangar settings.

Physical tasks necessitate regular standing, walking, and sitting, with occasional climbing, kneeling, or crouching. Frequent lifting and moving of objects up to 50 pounds, including overhead lifting, is required. The incumbent must maintain sharp vision across various ranges and depths.
