Position Overview

Jet Aviation is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Pilot in Command to join its elite flight operations team. Reporting to the Lead Captain, the Pilot in Command assumes ultimate authority and responsibility for the safe, secure, and efficient conduct of all assigned flight operations. This pivotal role emphasizes an uncompromising commitment to safety, security, and quality, ensuring every flight adheres to the highest industry and company standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
  • FAA First Class Medical Certificate, current and maintainable.
  • 3,500 hours Total Fixed-Wing flight time.
  • 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
  • 1,500 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time.
  • 1,500 hours Turbojet flight time.
  • 500 hours Turbine time.
  • 100 hours Night flight time.
  • 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional aviation experience.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including irregular hours and weekends.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate aircraft, making critical decisions regarding departure times, routes, and flight cancellations based on prevailing weather or operational conditions.
  • Ensure all flights strictly adhere to federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement necessary adjustments to flight plans and operations in response to en-route conditions, always maintaining compliance with company guidelines.
  • Conduct all flights in a safe and prudent manner, aligning with industry best practices and company standards.
  • Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including emergency systems and procedures.
  • Secure the aircraft post-flight, arranging hangar storage as necessary or as directed by company management.
  • Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies.
  • File, or cause to be filed, flight plans with the FAA or ICAO state ATC facilities.
  • Analyze area, en-route, and terminal charts for the intended destination and alternate airports.
  • Ensure the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for flight.
  • Foster a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command (SIC) regarding all aspects of the flight.
  • Impart knowledge and skills to the SIC to prepare them for potential Pilot in Command duties in emergencies or for future upgrades.
  • Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate this duty to the SIC.
  • Accurately complete all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
  • Record all aircraft discrepancies on the discrepancy log as they occur, immediately reporting them to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or designee. Determine deferral or repair needs based on the approved MEL and DOM's guidance.
  • Perform the functions of the In-flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under applicable security programs (e.g., 12.5 Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program).
  • Complete and transmit the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
  • Complete and transmit the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon conclusion of each flight day.
  • Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and promptly report all safety hazards and concerns.
  • Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
  • Delegate duties when appropriate, while retaining ultimate responsibility for those duties.
  • Represent Jet Aviation as "one company" internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
  • Perform other duties as required to support flight operations.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands

The role necessitates meeting specific physical demands to successfully execute essential functions. This includes frequent use of hands and fingers for handling, feeling, or reaching; frequent standing, walking, or sitting; and occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their head. Specific vision abilities required encompass close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Work Environment

The work environment is dynamic, requiring the ability to operate effectively in both heavy maintenance areas and upscale customer zones. Employees will frequently encounter moderate to loud noise levels, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals/departures. Exposure to vibration and occasional fuel fumes is expected. The ability to work in varying weather conditions and tolerate extreme hot and cold temperatures within hangar environments during seasonal changes is essential.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range

The anticipated salary range for this position is $300,000 - $340,000. Final compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, geographic location, and other pertinent qualifications. This range does not represent a guarantee of compensation or salary.
