Core Responsibilities of the Captain
The Captain holds ultimate authority and responsibility for the safety of the aircraft, crew, passengers, and cargo. Key duties include:
- Rigorously ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft during all phases of flight, prioritizing risk mitigation and crew resource management (CRM).
- Exercising professional judgment in assessing operational conditions (including weather and regulatory limitations) to accurately determine departure times, optimize flight routes, and, when necessary, initiate flight cancellations to uphold the highest safety standards.
- Maintaining absolute and complete compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, local air traffic laws, and established company standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet the following minimum flight hour requirements and hold valid credentials to be considered for the role:
- Must possess a valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with an appropriate Aircraft Type Rating specific to the operational fleet.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate without limitations that restrict operational duties.
- A minimum of 3,500 hours total flight time in fixed-wing aircraft.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours experience operating Multi-Engine Land aircraft.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours documented Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time.
