Position Summary
Jet Aviation seeks a skilled and dedicated Pilot in Command for the Global Express, based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Reporting to the Lead Captain regarding company operating policies and procedures, the Pilot in Command holds responsibility for the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments, emphasizing safety, security, and quality. This role exercises Pilot in Command authority on all assigned flights and serves as the final authority for the safe conduct of the flight.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and may cancel flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure flights are conducted in complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Institute necessary changes required by en route conditions to continue the flight under appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner in accordance with industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Ensure a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log as they occur and immediately report these discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance or designee as soon as possible. Refer to the approved MEL and, as directed by the DOM or designee, determine if the inoperative item can be deferred or needs repair, completing the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Confirm that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized to operate, including all emergency systems and procedures associated with the aircraft.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an authorized agency.
- File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the relevant ATC facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Perform functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under applicable standard security programs.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the Second in Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume Pilot in Command duties in an emergency or upon upgrade.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Take an active role in supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Make an immediate report of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- May delegate duties but not the responsibility for those duties.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Minimum Requirements
- Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Must obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing experience required.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land experience required.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command experience required.
- 1500 hours Turbojet experience required.
- 1500 Turbine time experience required.
- 100 hours Night flight experience required.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight experience required.
- A minimum of 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively, without any restrictions.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Work Environment

The employee must be able to work in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer areas. The noise level is usually moderate with occasional high volume during aircraft arrival/departure. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may be present. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The noise level is usually loud in certain areas. The hangar environment may experience extreme heat and cold during specific seasons.
