Pilot in Command

The Pilot in Command will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, secure, and efficient operation of company aircraft.
Position Summary:
The Pilot in Command reports to the Lead Captain and is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of each flight assignment, with unwavering emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The Pilot in Command exercises final authority for the safe conduct of the flight.
Main Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and/or cancel flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Institute necessary changes dictated by en route conditions to maintain flight integrity under company guidelines.
- Conduct flights safely and prudently, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensure a thorough understanding with the second in command regarding all aspects of flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log, immediately reporting them to the Director of Maintenance or designee.
- Determine that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage as needed or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or authorized agency.
- File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) as applicable.
- Conduct passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the second in command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the second in command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues, reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegate duties as necessary, while retaining ultimate responsibility.
- Other duties may be required, as needed.
- Represent Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Must obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbine flight time.
- 100 hours Night flight time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules.
- Willing and able to travel worldwide extensively, without any restrictions.
- Must have a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands:
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of this job, which may require using hands and fingers, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting up to 25 pounds frequently, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds above their heads. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level is usually moderate, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrival/departure. The employee may be exposed to vibration, fuel fumes, and varying weather conditions. The hangar environment may experience extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Compensation Data:
The likely salary range for this position is $280,000 - $315,000. The salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and other requirements.
