Jet Aviation is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Lead Captain for a Gulfstream 450, based in Teterboro, New Jersey. This is an onsite position within our Flight Services team, ideal for a career-driven aviation professional. The Lead Captain will report to the regional chief pilot and will be the final authority for the safe and efficient conduct of all assigned flights, ensuring adherence to company operating policies and procedures with a strong emphasis on safety, security, and quality.
The Lead Captain will safely operate the aircraft, determine optimal departure times and routes, and make critical decisions regarding flight cancellations based on weather or other conditions. They will ensure complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations and policies. The role involves coordinating aircraft schedules and training with flight crews and Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), utilizing supplemental crew as needed. Collaboration with the Maintenance Manager regarding aircraft servicing and maintenance is essential. The Lead Captain will manage crew member records, maintain current aircraft manuals and Jeppesen charts/EFBs, and coordinate crew training and check rides in conjunction with the Manager of Training. Additional duties include managing crew time off and training events, ensuring crew fitness for duty, mentoring crew members, conducting performance reviews, and assisting with flight crew hiring processes. They will ensure open communication on safety issues, report any hazards, and represent Jet Aviation professionally. The Lead Captain will also perform as the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator, conduct passenger safety briefings, and impart knowledge to the second in command. Furthermore, they are responsible for accurate trip paperwork, securing the aircraft, obtaining current weather reports, and filing flight plans. The position may require additional duties as needed.
The role requires the use of hands and fingers, the ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
The Lead Captain will work in both heavy maintenance and upscale customer areas. The noise level is typically moderate but can be high during aircraft arrival/departure. Exposure to vibration and occasional fuel fumes may occur. The position requires the ability to work in all types of weather conditions and fluctuating hangar temperatures.
