Jet Aviation is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Captain for a Gulfstream 650, based in Van Nuys, California. This position is a full-time, onsite role within our Flight Services division, requiring a professional with a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
The Captain reports to the Lead Captain and holds ultimate responsibility for the safe and efficient conduct of all assigned flights. The successful candidate will exercise pilot-in-command authority, ensuring adherence to all company operating policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. This role requires a proactive approach to safety, security, and quality in every aspect of flight operations.
Minimum qualifications include an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with a Gulfstream 650 type rating, a current FAA First Class Medical certificate, and a minimum of 4000 hours total fixed-wing time, including 1500 hours multi-engine land, 2000 hours pilot-in-command, 1500 hours turbojet, 1500 hours turbine, 100 hours night, and 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time. Additionally, 5 years of aviation experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work flexible schedules with extensive worldwide travel are essential.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, safe aircraft operation, flight planning and execution, compliance with all regulations and company policies, thorough trip paperwork, meticulous aircraft discrepancy reporting, ensuring crew fitness for duty, maintaining in-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, securing the aircraft post-flight, obtaining weather and flight plan information, analyzing airport charts, and performing TSA Flight Security Coordinator duties. This role also involves passenger safety briefings, mentoring the Second in Command, submitting flight manifests and end-of-day reports, and actively promoting a strong safety culture by reporting any safety hazards.
The ideal candidate will possess a college degree, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational abilities, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and experience with project management. This position requires the physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds above the head. The work environment includes exposure to moderate to high noise levels, occasional vibration, and fuel fumes, with willingness to work in varied weather conditions within both a heavy maintenance environment and upscale customer areas.
