Captain - Gulfstream 650

Jet Aviation, a distinguished leader in aviation since 1967, seeks a highly qualified and experienced Captain to operate a Gulfstream 650, based in Burbank, California. This position is within Flight Services, offering an onsite, technician/crew career opportunity.

Position Summary:

The Captain will report to the Lead Captain, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all assigned flights while adhering to company policies and procedures. This role carries the final authority for the safe conduct of each flight, prioritizing safety, security, and quality.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
  • Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • A minimum of 4,000 hours total fixed-wing flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours multi-engine land flight time.
  • A minimum of 2,000 hours pilot-in-command flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours turbojet flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours turbine flight time.
  • A minimum of 100 hours night flight time.
  • A minimum of 75 hours actual or simulated instrument flight time.
  • Five years of aviation experience.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules.
  • Unrestricted willingness and ability to travel worldwide.
  • Valid driver's license.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate the aircraft, determine optimal departure times and routes, and make go/no-go decisions based on conditions.
  • Ensure complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Adapt to en-route conditions, instituting changes as necessary to maintain flight safety according to company guidelines.
  • Execute flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
  • Accurately complete all required trip paperwork.
  • Ensure a thorough and complete understanding with the second-in-command regarding all flight aspects.
  • Record and report all aircraft discrepancies, following MEL procedures, and communicating with maintenance personnel.
  • Confirm the flight crew's fitness for duty and adherence to company dress code.
  • Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency procedures.
  • Secure the aircraft after each flight, including hangar arrangements as needed.
  • Obtain the latest weather reports and NOTAMs from authorized agencies.
  • File flight plans with the FAA or ICAO state ATC facilities.
  • Analyze charts for intended landing and alternate airports.
  • Act as the In-TSA Flight Security Coordinator.
  • Conduct passenger safety briefings.
  • Share knowledge and skills with the second-in-command to prepare them for future Pilot-in-Command duties.
  • Submit leg manifests to operations control before each departure and end-of-day reports upon flight completion.
  • Actively support open communication on safety issues, report safety hazards and concerns, and report any hazardous actions or events to the chief pilot and director of safety.
  • Delegate duties while maintaining full responsibility.
  • Represent Jet Aviation professionally and uphold its values with external groups.
  • Other duties as required.

Physical Demands:

The role requires the use of hands and fingers, standing, walking, sitting, and occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds overhead. Specific vision abilities are required, including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment:

This position requires working in both heavy maintenance and upscale customer areas. The work environment can range from moderate to high noise levels, particularly during aircraft arrival and departure. Exposure to vibration and occasional fuel fumes is possible. Employees must be willing to work in various weather conditions, and the hangar environment can experience extreme temperatures during certain seasons.
