Pilot in Command

Position Summary:
The Pilot in Command reports to the Lead Captain and is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of flight assignments, with an unwavering focus on safety, security, and quality. The Pilot in Command exercises ultimate authority over all assigned flights, ensuring adherence to federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
Main Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determine optimal departure times and routes, and make informed decisions regarding flight cancellations based on weather conditions or other factors.
- Ensure complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures throughout the flight.
- Proactively institute necessary changes to flight plans as required by en route conditions, maintaining adherence to company standards.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, upholding industry best practices and company standards.
- Accurately complete all required trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensure clear and comprehensive communication with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Meticulously record all aircraft discrepancies in the aircraft discrepancy log and promptly report them to the Director of Maintenance or designee.
- Verify that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit to perform their duties.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging for hangar storage as needed or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or ensure the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Thoroughly analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternate airports.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) as applicable under the provisions of the relevant security program.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate this duty to the Second in Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them for assuming the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or upon promotion.
- Complete and submit the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and submit the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively promote the open sharing of information regarding all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Represent Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Must obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum of 4,000 hours total fixed-wing flight time.
- Minimum of 1,500 hours multi-engine land flight time.
- Minimum of 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- Minimum of 1,500 hours turbojet flight time.
- Minimum of 1,500 hours turbine flight time.
- Minimum of 100 hours night flight time.
- Minimum of 75 hours actual or simulated instrument flight time.
- Minimum of 5 years of aviation experience.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules.
- Must be willing and able to travel worldwide extensively, without any restrictions.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands:
The position requires the ability to use hands and fingers, stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their head. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Work Environment:
The work environment includes both heavy maintenance and upscale customer areas. The noise level is typically moderate, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrival and departure. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may be present. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The hangar environment may experience extreme temperatures during certain seasons.
