Position Summary

The Captain will report directly to the Lead Captain, adhering to all company operating policies and procedures. They will bear ultimate responsibility for the safe, secure, and efficient execution of all assigned flights. The Captain exercises pilot-in-command authority and is the final arbiter regarding the safe conduct of each flight.

Minimum Requirements

  • Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with the appropriate Gulfstream 650 Type Rating is mandatory.
  • Maintenance of a valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate is required.
  • A minimum of 4,000 hours of total fixed-wing flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours of multi-engine land flight time.
  • A minimum of 2,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command experience.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours of turbojet flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours of turbine flight time.
  • A minimum of 100 hours of night flight time.
  • A minimum of 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight time.
  • Five (5) years of demonstrable experience in the aviation industry.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel extensively worldwide, without restrictions.
  • A valid driver's license.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe and compliant operation of the aircraft, determining suitable departure times and routes, and making the decision to cancel flights based on weather or other pertinent conditions.
  • Guarantee that all flights are conducted in full compliance with federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement necessary adjustments to flight plans in response to en route conditions, while upholding company policies and industry best practices.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate flight documentation.
  • Ensure comprehensive briefings with the second-in-command, including all aspects of the flight.
  • Meticulously record all aircraft discrepancies and immediately report them to the Director of Maintenance or designee, following the approved MEL guidelines.
  • Verify the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all aircraft systems, including all emergency protocols.
  • Secure the aircraft following each flight, including coordinating hangar storage as deemed necessary.
  • Obtain and analyze the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS.
  • File or ensure the filing of flight plans with the FAA or ICAO-state ATC facility.
  • Analyze airport and approach charts.
  • Serve as the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC), as required.
  • Conduct passenger safety briefings, or assign this task to the second-in-command.
  • Provide ongoing mentoring and guidance to the second-in-command, preparing them for future roles.
  • Submit leg manifests to operations control prior to each departure.
  • Submit End of Day (EOD) reports to operations control at the conclusion of each flight day.
  • Proactively support the open sharing of information related to safety concerns and report all potential hazards to the relevant authorities.
  • Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and the Director of Safety.
  • Delegate responsibilities as necessary while maintaining full accountability for the safe execution of all duties.
  • Undertake additional duties as required by the position.
  • Represent Jet Aviation with utmost professionalism internally and externally, including engagements with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position requires working in heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, with occasional high volume. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration, and fuel fumes may be present. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The Hangar environment may be extreme hot and cold during certain seasons of the year.
