Captain, Gulfstream 450 - Dulles, Virginia (KIAD)
Jet Aviation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Captain to join our team in Dulles, Virginia (KIAD). This position offers the opportunity to command a Gulfstream 450 aircraft, providing exceptional service to our valued clientele.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Lead Captain, the Pilot in Command is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all assigned flights. The Captain's paramount responsibilities include ensuring the safety, security, and quality of every flight while adhering to company operating policies and procedures. This role demands a strong commitment to excellence and a meticulous approach to flight operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safe Operation of Aircraft: Determines departure times and routes, and makes decisions regarding flight cancellations based on weather or other conditions. Ensures adherence to all relevant federal, local, and company regulations and policies.
- Flight Compliance: Implements necessary changes en route, ensuring the flight continues within established company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Flight Safety: Conducts all flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Paperwork Accuracy: Completes all trip paperwork accurately and efficiently according to current procedures.
- Crew Communication: Establishes clear communication and understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Aircraft Discrepancies: Records all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and reports them promptly to the Director of Maintenance or designated representative. Determines, in conjunction with the approved MEL, whether inoperative items require immediate repair or can be deferred, and completes the aircraft discrepancy log as needed.
- Crew Fitness: Ensures the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Aircraft Systems Knowledge: Maintains a thorough understanding of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Aircraft Security: Secures the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if necessary or instructed by company management.
- Weather Briefing: Obtains the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA Flight Service Station or authorized agency.
- Flight Plan Filing: Files or ensures the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Chart Analysis: Analyzes area, enroute, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- TSA Security Coordination: Performs the functions of the In-TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the applicable security program.
- Passenger Safety Briefings: Conducts required passenger safety briefings or delegates the duty to the Second in Command.
- Crew Training: Imparts knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or upon promotion to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Flight Documentation: Completes and sends the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure and the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Safety Reporting: Actively supports the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reports all safety hazards and concerns promptly.
- Hazardous Action Reporting: Immediately reports any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- External Representation: Represents Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to handle, feel, or reach with hands and fingers, and frequent standing, walking, or sitting. Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. The ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above the head is essential. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The work environment encompasses both a heavy maintenance environment and upscale customer areas. The noise level is usually moderate, occasionally rising to high volumes when aircraft arrive/depart. The employee will be exposed to vibration frequently and may encounter occasional fuel fumes. The position requires the willingness and ability to work in all types of weather conditions. The hangar environment can experience extreme temperatures during certain seasons.
